After the meeting ended with the board members, everyone else left apart from Nessa and Damon. I sat back to look at some paperwork from my hotel. I was going over the new trainee's list while Damon was trying to talk to Nessa.

Damon has always been the social one while I was reserved. I didn’t want anyone to think they had easy access to me, so I only spoke to someone new when it was necessary.

Vincent and Luca didn’t really like the idea of having a woman work with us. They still believed women were weak and during their prime when they worked with my father, women weren’t allowed to get involved with the mafia. I wasn’t okay with the fact that she was going to be working for us, but she needed to.

“I’m Vito’s best friend. I hope he has been nice to you?” I heard Damon ask Nessa.

“Of course, I’ve been nice to her,” I answered even if he wasn’t asking me the question.
