RUBY

RUBY

The first thing you'll probably notice about this girl was her height. I'd call it average, rather than tall.

She was very pretty and smiled brightly. She had long black hair and an athletic body.

She was free spirited and outgoing. My brothers would like this one, I thought.

I was a bit surprised when she said she had not yet heard about the Grace's of Gryffindor.

Nobody said that. I found this very interesting.

The whole school knew about the Grace's of Gryffindor. Not only were they popular, they were the most handsome of all the guys in Gryffindor.

To think they where my brothers. I shrugged it off, like it was some forbidden thought.

"Gryffindor is made from a long line of royalties. It's like a generational thing." I told her. "I'm mostly confused about it myself."

"I'm sure I won't get confused." She replied, doing the high plank .

"You've met walker?" I asked her.

"I have. We technically bumped into each other in the worst ways ever." She replied.

I grinned, knowing what walker was capable of.

"Right. So you've met the first Grace of Gryffindor, but technically the last." I explained further.

"Hold that thought." She replied, hands on her waist. "This some heir story?"

I smiled. "Remember how I said I find it confusing?" I reminded her.

It was the worst lineage story you'll ever have to tell someone. But I loved it. And I loved speaking about it to someone.

"Let's try another way." I said. "There are five Grace's of Gryffindor, all bearing walkers."

"Dang!! How's that even possible?" She laughed like she didn't believe me. "I know you are joking with me."

I rolled my eyes and poked her in the ribs. "It's not a joke, Steyn." I told her. "It's reality.

Thankfully, lunch bell rang the same time the coach blew his whistle, bringing to an end, the gyming session.

"I'll explain this better with food in my stomach." I told her. "I have enough for two."

"Thank you." She shrugged. "I brought lunch."

We left the gym with our gym bags and bottles. Got to the locker room in time and deposited our stuff into our individual lockers.

"You were saying something." Steyn reminded me.

"Yeah, right. Where did I stop?" I asked.

"The same name for five children." She reminded me.

"True. So there are five Grace's of Gryffindor, that bear walker. You can only differentiate them when you meet with them in person or by their title." I told her. "There's Walker the first Grace of Gryffindor, Walker the third Grace of Gryffindor, Walker the third and all the way up to the fifth." I said looking at her from time to time to make sure she understood.

We soon got to the bathroom on Steyn's request and had a warm bath. After that, we toweled our bodies, stepped out and left for lunch.

"Okay…, I think I'm finally getting a hang of this." She said, nodding.

"Good. Cause it's even about to get more complicated." I grinned. "The exciting thing about these Grace's is the fact that the first is the last and the last first."

"Let me understand this." Steyn said, snaking her hand around my shoulder. "What you're saying is that the first is the last and the last son is the first?"

I nodded.

"Right from when I heard the name of this school, I knew something was off." She confided, "Is this some biblical thingy? Cause it's only in the bible you'll hear stuff like that." She asked, contorting her face.

I laughed.

"It has nothing to do with the bible but everything to do with history." I told her.

"Some history it is then. Don't tell me they're of the same age?" She asked.

"That's absurd. Nope." I popped the p, "they're not."

"Do they all go to this school?" She inquired.

"Nope. Only the last and first Walker goes to this school. The first son who technically, is the fifth Grace, is a varsity student."

"Interesting." She murmured. "How come you know much about this family? You're related or something?" She asked me.

"I've been in Gryffindor long enough to know who's who, who's dating who and who married whom." I replied. "I'm family. They're my siblings. I'm an only girl."

"I feel like I'm in one of those romance novels, mostly historical. Your family is really something." She told me. "Honestly Ruby, you look nothing like Walker."

I smiled. "I know. I get that a lot." I said, stealing a chip from her lunch pack. "This is not some historical romance novel, like you said, it's the meta age."

"Is there any way I can take that back?" She pouted.

"Nope." I burst out laughing.

"We definitely need to sit and discuss this. I feel like I need to know more." She told me.

"Sure. I would really love to fill you in about my family." I told her. "Hopefully Walker didn't give you any trouble?"

"Wait till you hear the rest." She replied, deep frown lines, edging over her beautiful face.
