Chapter 37

Abigail's p.o.v;

The sun is setting in the window across my bed as I sit at my desk, pen in hand, and trying to figure out how to start the paper that I've been working on for weeks. My mind is going a mile a minute and nothing seems to be getting written. Finally, I give up and put down the pen. I have no clue what to say, or even where to begin.

Just then, there' knocks on my bedroom door. I jump at the sound of it. "Yes, mom?"

"Sweetheart! It's time for dinner!" My mom calls from beyond my room.

I groan inwardly. The last thing I wanted was to go downstairs and face everyone tonight. But since dad left home almost four months ago and my mother and stepfather got divorced, she's all by herself and doesn't know anyone else. She hasn't been eating well and is struggling with her weight issues and it's only going to get worse if we don't try and help her. So I reluctantly agree to go downstairs and have dinner with her.
