Linnea POVThe Underground market was bustling even though it was in the middle of the night. I shivered in the small dress, and even though Olivia had given me one of her shirts, the summer night was too cold to be walking around with bare legs.Olivia seemed to know where we were going, whereas I had no clue. After getting through a portal to the Underground market, we walked along the stands. “We have to find Madam Elsa’s tent.” Olivia whispered. “If there’s anyone that has answers about what you are, it would be her.”I nodded and took her hand as we navigated through the crowd until we reached a small tent with two large men standing in front of it. “We’re here to see Madam Elsa.” Olivia said. “Have you made an appointment?” One of the men sneered. Olivia smiled back sweetly. “Trust me, she’s going to want to see this.” She replied and held up the earrings. “Let them in.” A voice was heard from inside the tent. The man glared at us, but stepped aside to let us through.
Linnea POVI frowned at Madam Elsa, who just chuckled. “Helena told me a few things before she left.” She replied. “She told me that you two would be coming here today. She told me what I needed to tell you so that you would be ready.”“Hold up.” Olivia said. “You already knew that we were coming?”Madam Elsa nodded. “I’ve been waiting for this day for over twenty years.” She replied. “There are some things you should know about.”“What things?” I asked. “Your mother wanted you to know that to take back your pack, you need to think outside the box.” She replied. “You will have to seek alliances in unexpected places, but your mate will also be crucial in Alpha Harald’s defeat.” “Where do I find these alliances?” I asked. “She never told me.” She shrugged. “In my experience, those kinds of answers will show up when you least expect it. But I must warn you, you need to make up with your mate or you will lose your pack. Your mother was very clear on that part.”I frowned. “How did y
Linnea POVGabriel and Olivia stared at each other silently, neither of them moving. “Did you say ‘mate’?” Oscar’s voice seemed to startle them both and Olivia groaned. “Well shit, it’s my usual luck.” She muttered. “Looks like both of you are coming with us now.” Gabriel grinned. He took a step closer to us when footsteps approached behind me. I looked over my shoulder and froze when I saw a vampire man standing on the other side of the gate. “Let them go.” He said calmly. Olivia looked back and smiled briefly before turning to Gabriel again. “You are outnumbered. “She said. “You should go before things get ugly. You might be my mate, but I won’t hesitate to hurt you to protect my people.” Gabriel stared at her and looked like he was about to attack us anyway when more vampires emerged from the shadows hissing and snarling at Gabriel and Oscar. “We should go.” Oscar suggested and Gabriel snapped his head in his direction. “Are you crazy?” He snapped. “We can’t leave witho
I was taken aback by Queen Ayesha’s blunt demeanor.“Thank you for having me, Queen Ayesha.” I said and smiled nervously. “My name is…”Queen Ayesha waved her hand at me. “I know who you are.” She smiled. “You are currently the most wanted wolf in the city, Linnea Nielsen. Alpha Harald has been tearing this city apart to find you.” I stared at her. “Has he been here?” I asked. Queen Ayesha shook her head. “Not yet.” She said. “But I figure that once those two out in the alley tell him where you are, they will come knocking the doors down to get to you.”I felt tears gather in my eyes, but I blinked rapidly to prevent them from falling.“I don’t want to get you in trouble.” I said. “I should probably take my leave before they get here.”Queen Ayesha chuckled. “You don’t have to do that.” She said and walked around the desk. She gestured with her hand to the chair in front of her desk and I sat down. “I heard that you have been hiding out in Alessandro Costa’s pack.” She told me
Gabriel POVThe sun was rising and we headed back to the pack to get some rest. The car ride was silent, neither of us knew what to say. My mind was a mess. I never imagined that I would meet my mate this way. “What are you going to do?” Oscar asked. I was silent for a moment, trying to gather my thoughts. “I have no idea.” I mumbled. “You better figure it out before we get back, or we’ll be in trouble with the Alpha.” Oscar muttered. I groaned. “What if we say that we came up empty?” I asked. “No one but the two of us knew that we found her. I have a feeling that Olivia will reject me if I turn Linnea in right now.” Oscar was quiet for a moment. “Are you sure that it isn’t for the best?” He asked. “I mean, she’s a bloodsucker. What are you going to do with a bloodsucker for a mate?”I growled at his disrespect, and if it wasn’t for that he was driving, I would have punched him in the face. “I will not have you disrespect my mate.” I snarled. “Or I might just put you in the
Alessandro POVI stared blankly at the photo in front of me. “I don’t understand.” I said. “I thought that Alpha David’s daughter was dead. How can she be alive?”Harley shrugged. “I think that someone must have faked her death to give her the chance to escape from Alpha Harald.” He said. “I found out that they are legally married, and I suspect that it’s Alpha Harald’s mark on her neck as well.”I growled at the thought of him touching her, but another thought came to mind. “Those other people that the warriors have encountered on the streets at night.” I said. “Do you think that they could be out looking for Cec… err… Linnea too?”Harley’s eyes widened. “They must have found out that her death was a ruse.” He whispered. “If they get her hands on her before we do…”He didn’t dare to finish that sentence. He just stared at me with horror written all over his face. “We have to find her.” I said. “If we can’t locate her, then focus on Olivia. Is there any way to find out which clan
Linnea POVAfter the meeting with Queen Ayesha, Olivia took me to her room. We were both exhausted after a long night and we were both asleep within minutes, curled up together on Olivia’s bed. When I woke up, my head was pounding and my mouth felt dry. I staggered out of bed to drink some water and collapsed on the floor. Pain surged through me and I groaned at the burning sensation in my stomach. My ears were ringing, but I could still hear Olivia call out my name. “Holy shit, you’re burning up.” She said. I panted heavily and curled up in a ball on the floor. “Everything’s burning.” I gasped. The door flew open and Queen Ayesha ran inside. “She’s in heat.” She muttered and turned to Malik standing by the door. “Get water running in the bathtub, it needs to be cold.”Olivia and Ayesha grabbed my arms and hoisted me up from the floor. “We need to get her temperature down.” Queen Ayesha said as they dragged me through the hallway to the bathroom where I heard water running.
Olivia POVI had no idea what was going through Linnea’s head. Just because Gabriel was my mate, it didn’t mean that I actually wanted him. If she wanted to f*ck him, she could. It wouldn’t bother me. Not at all. In fact, he could fuck anyone he wanted. He probably did. After all, he was a very good looking werewolf that could have any girl he wanted. I gulped and felt my heart sting at my inner monologue. Oh, eat horse sh*t, you stupid mate bond!I was still grumbling quietly to myself when I came downstairs to handle the mutt. Gabriel was standing in the alley outside of the house and for a moment I had to remind myself to keep glaring at him while I positioned myself in the shade so that I wouldn’t come in direct contact with the sunlight.Oh My Goodness, he was breathtaking. My fingers itched to run through his messy blonde curls and his blue eyes left me frozen on the spot. I trailed my gaze down his chiseled chest and abs. Biting my lip. My eyes quickly snapped back to
