I called Jay after a while staying with Damon. It wasn’t hard to distract Damon. I just had to ask him if he wanted to play games with me.
“Hey, Jay, What’s up?” I tried to sound cheery hoping he forgot all about last night.
“Can we meet? I want to talk.” He asked me. I noticed the discomfort in his tone. We never acted formally towards each other before but then we never said things that hurt each other either.
“Sure.”
“Let’s meet at the coffee shop near my dorm. See you there, Aves.” The way he called my name made me smile. That was kind of saying, ‘I forgot all about last night so you don’t need to worry about that.’
I could have called him to our café, but I didn’t want to when my mom is upset especially when the matter is related to them.
When I arrived at the coffee shop he wasn’t there yet so I decided to wait while having a cappuccino. So I ordered before.

I told the name of the hospital to the driver where he was supposed to drop me after a second. My mind never once warned me to change my decision. I once heard someone saying that you can never be too happy all the time and also you can never be too sad. The scale always balances. And it did in my life that day. It was one fine morning, but when I opened my eyes, waking up, memories flooded back reminding me of all the pain I was going through. It’s been like this for almost a year after I left it all behind in the old town. When I came home to London, I acted strong and faked my happiness but that didn’t help me. The more I ran from my pain it caught up to me really fast. My mind went somewhere for a second, and I started having episodes of panic starting to cry in the middle of my work. Just when you think that life can never get any worse than this, it just throws a nuclear bomb on your way, scorching every last bit of hope that you have been holding onto. If you are lucky enough, you might find another way to survive the bombing.
