Chapter 50
The room was finally free from Audrey’s hilarious laughs and sarcastic remarks. Shane slumped himself on the bed, darting his eyes on the bathroom door where she entered. He still could hear her chuckles, still could see her mocking expression towards him. “What’s wrong with my get up? That chubby brat just really wanted to make fun of me the moment she wakes up. The nerve! Just you wait,” he muttered and started to make tens of plans on how to get even with Audrey. The bright sunlight filled the room from the slightly opened windows. Shane stood up and lifted the curtains to let more sunshine inside. He strode in front of the mirror and looked at himself. He wasn’t born narcissist, but he wasn’t lying when he thought he was still looking good despite what he wore. His confidence suddenly boosted and his lips curved a conceited smi

Chapter 51
The cold water in the shower helped Audrey felt relieved. She dressed herself up and sat in front of the vanity mirror inside the walk-in closet. She decided to blow dry her hair and slowly brushed it down. Her thoughts were filled with Shane’s epic get up, and she still couldn’t contain herself from giggling whenever she got reminded about it. “I bet he changed his shirt when I was in the shower,” she murmured while examining her face in the mirror. She maintained enough hours of sleep, and she wasn’t as haggard as when she was still in Bologna, working most of the day inside the busy kitchen though, she missed those times. Makeup was never her thing, but she had to trouble herself about it on some occasions. “Not bad,” she commented when she was done applying some tint on her lips. “I’m not dolling up myself, ju

Chapter 52
Everyone was quietly sitting in the living room. Lunch was over a few hours ago and Audrey was also back from her daily driving practice with Nathan. She was silently having cold desserts with her mother-in-law and Nathan was enjoying his own cup of latte with homemade cookies. Shane hadn’t returned yet and the ladies were both worried though they couldn’t say it out loud. Well, everyone in the house seemed to be concerned about him. Audrey didn’t want the rest to think that she was overthinking just because her husband was gone out for several hours. And Mrs. Vargas was trying to be tough in front of her daughter-in-law who was obviously anxious even she didn’t say a word. Nathan felt the gloomy vibes from the two but dared not to ask anything. He didn’t want to sound rude in any way possible once he asked something he shouldn’t. The housekeeper and even the housemaids were zipping their

Chapter 53
The sun was setting when Audrey pushed the door open. After laughing her heart out with Nathan, she felt better and lighter. Like the heavy sentiment inside her chest was gone and was replaced with soothing warmth. She was stunned to see Shane leaning on the wall a meter away from the entrance and the first thing she thought about why he was there was because he was waiting for her. She pretended not to see him, not wanting to assume that he was really there waiting, or she would only feed her heart’s desire with more lies. Audrey was a few steps ahead when Shane said something that turned her world upside down. “I think, I’m ready to sign the papers.” His voice was soft like a whisper but calm. She could tell that he was not kidding at all when he said that. “Let’s go upstairs and talk about it in private,” he resumed when h

“AW!” Shane’s scream could be heard throughout the room when Audrey’s palm landed on his head. She was so pissed when the man actually thought that it was she who might have stolen and hidden the documents. ‘I love you but I’m not that selfish to keep you by my side when you’re in love with someone else. So letting you go was always an option to consider,’ she thought to herself. “Why did you hit me? I was simply asking if it was you,” Shane rubbed his head and was quick to distance himself from her. Audrey glared at her. “Are you an idiot? Why would I hide them when I’m the one who gave it to you for your signature? Tsk! So annoying,” she said as she faced her back at him.

Chapter 55
Audrey was wiping her face with a hand towel when someone knocked on the door. Confusion spread all over her face. She hadn’t left the bathroom since the housekeeper went down to get her dinner. Shrugging, she took a peek outside. “The door’s open, get inside.” Audrey waited for any response but there was nothing. She went back to wiping her face, well, she was crying so hard earlier that she could barely recognize herself when she looked in a mirror. So instead of dwelling too much over her broken heart for the nth time, she decided to take some time cleaning her face. She applied some facial wash cream to hide the fact that she cried. Usually, she would use concealer as Nathan’s suggestion, but she thought there was really no need to apply it when she’s just going to sleep after digesting her dinner. The sound of the tray placed

Chapter 56
When 5:00 o'clock in the morning flashed in the digital clock on her bedside table, she pulled herself up to sit as she slowly rubbed her eyes while yawning. She crawled down the bed sleepily, folded the blanket, and made sure the bed was neat before heading to the bathroom to wash up. Having dark eye bags was what Audrey expected, yet she was still surprised when she saw the heavy dark circles under her eyes. After bickering with Shane the other night, she decided to sleep in her room and let the man occupy the master’s bedroom alone. What’s more, she was famished. Why wouldn’t she? Shane took the tray with her dinner back to the kitchen after she told him how he was so conceited about his looks. At first, the actor was actively talking back at her using her old appearance to taunt her but it didn’t work at all. Well, Audrey had been enduring his ‘oblivious’ treatment towards her feelings

Her jaw dropped. Audrey couldn’t be mistaken from what she heard. Shane said it clearly without lowering his voice or anything to creep her out but it was creepy. Nah, she wasn’t calling his voice creepy instead she found it charmingly sexy BUT, yeah- there was an exaggerated ‘but’ and she wanted her mind to sync with her reaction this time… what he told her was far from what she expected to hear. ‘... You’ll start working as my assistant today…’ His words were repeatedly played inside her head. He only said it once, but she seemed to have heard it for a hundred times already and her mind just won’t stop playing it for her. She wasn’t sure if it was to remind her or to intentionally tease her though one thing was certain; she didn’t like what he said.

“Ah-ouch! Hey, you can’t treat me like this. If you didn’t slam the door in my face, we won’t be in this tight position. You should have tried to coax her more,” Shane muttered in between whimpers while Audrey was pressing an ice pack on his nose to reduce the swelling. She was left with no choice but to take responsibility for what she did. Especially when Shane’s manager firmly told them to come even it means getting late. After giving an honest reply to Lucy’s question, the manager seemed to change her attitude towards her. Audrey thought that she could easily decipher the other’s emotion just by the way she talked, but she was wrong. She didn’t know how Lucy felt when she said a few words before hanging up the call. “What do you think about your manager?” Audrey asked out of nowhere. Her question m

Chapter 59
The radiant sun was once again exhibiting its power, casting its light in most parts of the world- illuminating the day and at the same time, providing its warmth to every living or dead creatures on earth. The mellow song played by the stereo inside the car was also warm and soothing just like the sunshine in the morning. Nathan initially turned on the stereo since no one other than himself wanted to start a small conversation to alleviate the growing tension between the two particular people who did nothing but glare at each other whenever since they got in his car. He was even not sure why he was suddenly dragged into the messy private life of the couple he was driving for. He could only take a few glances of the man sitting on the backseat through the rearview mirror. And on his side was a pretty lady, pouting with her brows furrowed. At least she was no longer glaring at the other who seemed to calm on down on his seat
