31 | NIGHT OF PLEASURES pt. 2
JOY Before I could form a reply, his tongue dipped between my folds and flicked my nub. It was a strange sensation, one I hadn’t experienced before. He continued flicking his tongue up and down my fold, fluttering them and making me quiver at the vibration. When he finally took my hardened bud in his mouth and sucked, my hands shot up to clutch his head. He gave a low hum, which sounded much like an approval as he continued to suck and graze his teeth to heighten the feelings shooting up to the centre of my stomach. I felt something building, something too strong. A surprised gasp left my lips when he darted his tongue to my slit and nudged at my entrance. I frowned, as the effect only lasted for a moment. I looked down to see his head pulled back and eyes focused on mine. The sight of his lips and the scruff of his jaw covered in my juices excited me even more. “Tell me if you don’t want something, Joy. Anything that makes you unco

32 | NEW BONDS
VINCE I wished if I didn't have to leave the first thing in the morning. On top of it, lie over Joy's face about it. She hadn't argued about it and simply said yes with a huge smile. That smile, I would’ve done anything to see every fucking day. Luckily, she couldn't get by my face that I was hiding the truth from her—the truth that I knew about Josh and about Mason’s death. While getting into my car, I’d glanced at my phone one more time and read Beau's message. BEAU: I am sending you an address. Be there, ASAP.

33 | NEW MOMENTS
JOY Vince had to leave early shortly after he received a call. But he made sure that I didn't feel left alone by kissing me after every word he said until he walked out of my apartment. I had no idea that a man like him could be so romantic and patient. I wasn't. And he had also made sure that I had a proper breakfast since neither of us had dinner last night and we were quite exhausted. "You should really shop for some supplies. Or we could do it together," he had said when he handed me a plate of pancakes. I was even early to the office today. Bailey hadn't yet arrived, and I was a bit surprised since Bailey was the one who was always early. Sometimes it made me wonder if she was the one who opened up the building. Bailey came in soon after me, though. "Who are you? What have you done to Ms Gale?" she asked, laughing as she walked into the office. "Hilarious." I laughed and plopped down on the swivel chair.

34 | BROKEN DREAMS
JOY I walked upstairs quickly after the call ended. Shelly knew, me being me, I would’ve rather had takeout than having to cook, so she had taken the initiative and done the cooking. We settled down around the small table in the living room with our plates filled with delicious cream pasta. We laughed and talked about different things during dinner, and when it was done, I stayed back to help with the dishes while the twins were playing monopoly in the living room. "So, how is everything with you and Vincent?" Shelly asked, walking into the kitchen. "Everything's great." I flashed a smile at her. Had she heard my moans? Oh, God, that would’ve been so embarrassing. But her expressions tightened and she said, "Well, I’ve heard some rumours about him being . . . a ladies’ man." I didn't know what to say. Pretty much everyone knew Vince and how he’d been for years. And I had expected to face this question, but ne

35 | A BAD BETRAYAL
JOY Even though I wanted to, I couldn't sleep after Vince left last night. It wasn't him, but me. My mind wasn't at peace and I figured it wouldn't be unless I completed the redecoration. I'd painted the walls and done some changes to the furniture placement. I'd tried to be as less chaotic as I could, since it was the middle of the night. Finally, around 5:30 a.m., I was done with all of it and could freely rest my eyes. The thought of having dinner with Vince tonight was fascinating, and I needed my beauty sleep. I woke up in the afternoon, made some brunch and hovered around the house and into the bathroom with a razor to shave my legs, hands, and armpit, just to make myself a little presentable. I picked up the best dress: a black, sleeveless dress. Running the straightener on my hair and applying some makeup, I was ready. It was still a few minutes left to 7. I wanted to call Vince and ask if he was on his way, but I al

36 | LONDON: SOMETHING SO PAINFUL
[FIVE YEARS AGO] VINCE "It's impossible, Jordy!" I scowled, stepping away from Jordan. The last few hours I had to spend in this godforsaken place had been driving me insane and the fact that I was being bullied by everyone starting from Jordan to the old nurse of this damn hospital was making me sick now. On top of it, everyone thought I was one of those bastards who ran away from responsibilities. But no, I wasn't that. I wasn't my father and I wouldn't run . . . only if I was proven wrong. "You know how cautious I am when it comes to using protection. We used a condom." I lowered my voice and looked around the confined area of the parking lot. "Then you are one of those ten per cent cases that come out negative. Condoms are not always safe, Vi." There was anger in Jordan's voice. He was trying hard not to yell at me. He clasped my shoulders and jolted me to get me to my senses. My

37 | AND YET SO BEAUTIFUL
VINCE My daughter was waiting for me, and the traffic was killing me. It had been four days since we had admitted Mum to the hospital and I had to take care of Paige. When Paige was born, my career was on the rise, so Mum was kind enough to take care of her. I only came to them on the weekdays and stayed, trying to make up for all the other days of the week. Paige was the very reason I still had the soft part of me alive. She was the reason I believed and had hope in love. But even though I loved her a lot, my love could exceed the love she had for me.  I wasn't ready to be a father when I’d learned of her, but the moment she held my finger in her tiny hand, I knew I could do anything and everything to protect her, love her and be a worthy father. That was all I had ever wanted. I didn't know if I was a good father, but she sure was the best person in my life. Last few weeks I had been too busy to be with Paige

38 | ONE CALM DAY
JOY Everything was taking a turn for the wrong. I hated to say, but a man I thought was perfect had fooled me yet again. My entire way home, I couldn't restrain my tears. I just wanted to get home and bury my head in a pillow, like I used to. I couldn't take my own thoughts anymore. He had a wife. A wife and a daughter! I never took him to be a liar. When I looked at his daughter, I could see how beautiful she was. And I was sure so was his wife. Then why did he do this to me? Worse, even after all of this, I still wanted him to at least try to explain things. As bad as it sounded, he didn't call or even text after that and it had already been two days since I’d last seen him with his daughter at the school. No matter how much workload I took up, I couldn't concentrate. My method of diversion wasn't working as well as it had at the office, and it was only Saturday. Now, only God knew how I was going to

39 | MUM’S ADVICE
[TWO DAYS AGO] VINCE "Granny!" Paige ran toward Mum as soon as the door opened. Mum's face quickly lit up, and she pulled Paige up on her lap, making me jump in fear. She was still weak and heavy lifting was only going to make her suffer more. Shaking her head at me, she turned around to walk into the house, carrying Paige in her arms. She was strong, and I trusted Richard. Richard would not let anything happen to her. I moved into the house, closing the door behind me. I missed coming to this house and being around Mum and Paige. Both the ladies in my life shared an epic bond, so that was more of a reason for Mum to get well soon. "Did you both go visit her?" Mum asked as soon as I entered the living room. I nodded, to which she turned to Paige and questioned, "Did you wish her?" "Yes." I stood at the door and watched them intently as they talked and laughed about random thi

40 | A GOOD SUNDAY pt. 1
JOY Misoo had arrived before Aubrey. Usually, Aubrey was a punctual person, but Jordan wasn't even close to it, probably because he was a CEO and no one could ever say anything to him if he was late. But he wasn't my boss, and I had already planned on murdering him. Not only because he was running late, but also because I thought he was her friend and I should’ve at least given me a hint on Vince's marriage. But when logic struck me, I realised: Vince was his best friend, and I was just a girl, who happened to be friends with his wife, who he had only known for less than two years. He didn’t owe me an explanation, much less the truth. I’d done the grocery shopping before Misoo came. She helped me in arranging everything whilst complaining about what a mess the kitchen was. If anyone saw us together right now and the way we laughed and got along, they wouldn't believe it had just been a few days since we’d met. Misoo
