The house was completely silent. Lacey rested her forearms on the kitchen table, her upper body leaning on it. Darin's hands held his head with his elbows on the table. "I'm going to tell mummy about the jump." Sadey declared, one hand on her waist.Lacey leaned forward. "Uhh... Sadey..." Darin pat her arm, shaking his head. Making her keep quiet and allowing him to speak."She's not around. So she can't do anything about it. Besides, it was like a week ago." Lacey nodded."I'll tell daddy instead.""If you tell him, then we won't give you ice cream." Sadey's eyes widened. Lacey smiled at her little sister's sweet tooth weakness. "Yeah. Two scoops." She looked at Darin who was smiling and nodding at Sadey. She put up two fingers. "Two scoops from me now two scoops from him.""Think about. It's a lot of scoops." Her mouth also hung open. The thought of all the scoops of ice cream making her happy. Once they heard t

Nick Atkins stood by the door, tapping his foot impatiently. He looked at his watch, looked at his oldest daughter, sitting in front of the television surfing through channels. He shook his head and pressed the bridge of his nose. "Just because you all get to go to school late does not mean you can slack off. Darin get your sister down here this instant. Lacey are all the bags in the cars?" He barked.     "Yes." She answered with eyes fixed on the screen."Then get off the couch and get moving. And hurry up you two. I do not want to miss my flight and I do not want you missing more classes than you have to." He let out a deep breath and looked at his watch again.     Sadey let go of Darin's hand when they reached the bottom of the stairs. She ran to Lacey who was turning off the television. "Lacey you've got butter in your hair." She giggled. Lacey got to her feet with a groan, pulling her h

Okay, it couldn't be hard to walk through the doors. Sure it was different for her and Darin but why did this feel a whole lot like... The butterflies in her stomach spoke for her feeling. And so did the pounding of her heart. It shouldn't be hard. As the day went by the feeling reduced. And Tom played his part very well, it helped her keep her eyes off him as well. But she already missed him. The day could not end any faster so she can see him... better again. And maybe call him. She would have to change his name on her phone. The girls had a way of snooping around.Sitting in the lunch bar again, she took a seat that gave her quite the vantage point. With the distance between their tables, Lacey kept her eyes on her friends as she spoke. The best plan was to ignore him like she did the day before. That plan failed when his gaze caught her's. "I'm telling you when mother walked in and saw him in the house, with his shoes on no less sh

Lacey rubbed the back of her neck as she picked up the notebook beside her, her mind lost in the amount of home work she had to cover before the next day. Grateful for the fact that she didn't have to see Tom since he was busy. Exams were around the corner and summer school was not an option. She looked into one of the open textbooks in front of her and jotted down in her note book. The sound of Sadey laughing somewhere in the entire house reached her ears. She raised her head after an hour of working and writing, closing the books before her, she picked up another set of books and flipped through the table of contents before laying them out on the table. She fought the urge to pick up her phone with a deep breath and a shake of her head before picking up her pen to write. Once she was done with this last assignment the plan was to sit in front of the television. It was a good thing it was Friday.     Despit

While the entire class waited for their teacher to walk in, they talked away the time. Jody, Anita and Bethany gathered around Fay's desk talking about everything, anything and nothing. Lacey kept her distance, listening to them from her desk beside Fay's. Anita sat on top of Fay's desk while Bethany and Jody shared the one behind her's. "You should try it some time i like it. It's so good. I can't stop thinking about it." Bethany spoke, waving her hands around."Anyway," Jody started "Darin looked at me today." Simultaneous groans from Anita and Fay, and eye rolling from Bethany. Lacey shut her eyes and shook her head, laughing internally. "Oh! Come on guys. It's true you've got to believe me. I was walking into school and he did, then he winked. Real breath taking move.""Jody, stop it." Anita shot."For the love of all things, it is true. Why is it so hard to believe? No one answer that." She pointed from one to the other, upo

Anita sat forward, impatiently waiting for Lacey to talk. Lacey took in the eager look on their faces with a sly smile. Time passed and their patience began to thin out. "Damn it speak or I swear!" Anita barked hitting the desk. Bethany's attempt at disinterest did not work as planned as she tried to hide her gaze in her phone.     "Lacey speak would you." Fay added."Fine." She sat up, smirking. "I was watching from behind her locker, you know beside that Home Economics store room. And he walked up." She stopped to watch Jody take her seat in silence.     "Yeah and?" Anita shot, ignoring Jody's arrival."And he just kept walking." Fay scoffed. "Like we were invisible. It was just us. But he just kept walking." Seeing the grumpy look on her face while the other three looked at her in shock felt good.     "You know what? Whatever okay, it's probably because you were there

Tom closed the door once they were inside. He watched her look around the front hallway. The loud thumping of her boots on the wooden floor getting his attention. Smirking, he reached for her, snaked his hands round her waist and pulled her into his body. "I didn't even notice those crazy boots. Are they meant for crushing skulls? The thumping is so loud anyone around would know you're walking." He said nuzzling the left side of her neck.     She tilted her head to the side chuckling. "The heels are just heavy you idiot."     "I know that." He stepped to her right. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go put my room in order."      "Uhh uhh." She shook her head and wagged her finger. "No way. So that you can take down your posters and all the things I mentioned that you might have?" He watched her in amusement. "No way."     "Unlike your room which is always clean,

"I'm so tired." Tom groaned, resting his head on her lap. She laughed at his move and proceeded to Stoke his hair. "Mmmmm" He moaned. "Now I know why cats love this."     "Just don't purr like one.""Are you kidding? I'm too tired to try it."      "You're not the one who had to stay back for extra classes.""Maybe not. But the guys and I were practically up all night. And then classes didn't help." He turned his head. "Sorry I couldn't see you yesterday."     "No problem. We can't be together all the time. I need you to miss me sometimes." She kept on stroking his hair.     "Can you read minds? Cause I was thinking the same thing.""No you weren't." She tugged his hair.      He hissed. "Okay fine. But I was going to agree.""Uhh huh." He

Once Lacey opened the front door, the first thing she saw when she looked up was a shirtless Darin. Without giving it a thought, a squeal escaped her mouth as she ran to him and jumped into his arms. Laughing, he made sure her feet had touched the floor before he stepped back. "You are my hero!"      "A little lower Lacey. Sadey's asleep." "I don't care. That was awesome. Did you really plan all of that?"     "No." "Really? I don't even know what to say to that." He nodded. She wrapped her hands round him again. "Thank yo
