Chapter 41: Don't Tell Me
Jasmine's POV "NO, NO, NO! I CAN'T BE PREGNANT. Doctor, with all due respect, you have me confused with another patient. I'M NOT PREGNANT!" I screamed at Dr. Shannon once I had recovered and she told me the news again. "Jasmine, please relax. Take deep breaths. I know sometimes these things are hard to process, especially when you were not planning," she replied while adjusting the pillow underneath my head. "I just don't understand. I took two pregnancy tests. TWO! And they both showed negative," I recalled the pregnancy tests Zenia picked up for me when we went grocery shopping. "Well, I honestly don't know what faulty pregnancy test you picked up, or if you didn't follow the directions carefully. Or, in medical terms, some women's bodies produce mixed hormonal signals and sometimes a pregnancy test cannot be accurate. Stress is a great factor for doing such. "So, that's why some women, when they think they're pregnant, p

Chapter 42: A Frozen Hell
Evan's POV I was sitting in my office and staring at the picture of my parents' wedding. Emily and I were still babies but I was such a chubby one. I wonder what it would be like to actually become a father. My office phone rang and removed the thought from my mind. "Evan Hollen," I answered. "Mr. Hollen, I have a Miss Blackman here to see you," my secretary said from her end. My heart skipped a beat. Jasmine?"Jasmine?" I asked her. "No. She said her name is Zenia Blackman. The little sister." "Send her in." Why is Zenia here? Sitting up in my chair and straightening my suit, I watched Zenia come through the door. She walked up to my desk slowly while gazing around the room. "Good morning," I greeted her. Her eyes landed on me now. "Good morning," she answered back."How can I help you?" I asked her. "There's something you

Chapter 43: Getting Situated
Jasmine's POV "Pack my things?" I asked for the second time. "Did I stutter?" he asked. He turned the car engine off and opened his car door. I remained seated. I felt numb. "Jasmine," he called me as he came around my side. He opened the passenger's door and stood there, waiting for me to get out. "Why do you want me to move into your house? I'm very comfortable and happy at my own apartment.""Jasmine, you're having my kid. You've been talking crazy about adoption and abortion. Do you think I'll be comfortable having you away from me with the baby inside you? You're moving into the mansion where I can keep a closer eye on you and the baby.""But you're at work all the time!" "Jasmine, I'm not going to fight you on this any longer. Get yourself upstairs and let your sister assist you with packing." "I don't want to leave my sister and my mother," I protested as the tears came welling up

Chapter 44: Cool Off
Evan's POV "I can't believe you moved that girl into your house!" Aria snapped at me. We were sitting in a restaurant, having lunch together. I had just told her the news about the pregnancy and moving Jasmine into my mansion. Aria was furious. We had been going steady for three weeks now. "How are you even so sure that the baby is yours?" "I took her word for it."She scoffed and folded her arms. "Wasn't she the same one who left you for another man? Wasn't she the same one who embarrassed you at your gala last month?""Yes. That's the one.""And, yet, you're taking her word for it?" I remained silent. The thought of someone else fathering the child did cross my mind. If that wasn't my kid inside of Jasmine, I honestly didn't know what the hell I'd do. I wanted a kid. And, although Jasmine and I had parted ways, a fraction of my heart still belonged to her, and I was happy she was carrying a baby for me.

Chapter 45: Tell Me About It
Jasmine's POV I sat down on my bed, in one of the guest rooms, combing my hair before tying it up in a bun to get some sleep. I left a window open so the cool air came in as I threw myself, face down, onto the bed. I felt lonely and sad that this was what Evan and I had come to. I never wanted this much separation.A single tear fell from my eyes and was sucked up by the bed sheets underneath me. A knock came on the door, suddenly, and startled me a bit. I rolled over on the bed and, standing on my feet, I went to open the door as the knock came again. "Hi," he said as he came into my room and began looking around. This was so unexpected but like him. "Hi," I answered him back and looked at his every movement. "You like the room?" he asked me. "Yes. It's comfortable and I'm warm," I answered. He came closer to me. So close that his body heat warmed me even more. I took three steps b

Chapter 46: It's In The Eyes
Evan's POV She was flushing in the car seat and looked out of the window constantly the rest of the car ride to the OBGYN's office. After telling my parents the news about the pregnancy, Mom recommended an obstetrician and told me she'd slap me upside my head if I didn't accompany Jasmine there on the first day. I was already planning on being there for her though.I pulled the car into a parking lot of a neat, two-story building with dark tinted glass windows and a true nature, outdoor environment. I instantly liked it. It was also private so I wasn't worried about the press showing up. Thanks Mom. I opened the door and held Jasmine's hand as she got out and looked around in amazement. I led her to the entrance and pushed in the door. "Good morning. You must be the Hollens," a nurse greeted with a smiling face. "Yes," I answered without correction. "Dr. Matador would be with you very shortly.

Chapter 47: A Kiss Is Just A Kiss
Jasmine's POV I continued my shopping as normal without making a scene with Bradley and his baby's mother. I had my own child to worry about and better things to do than getting into an argument with a liar. I already knew the truth, and saw the truth, and that was all that mattered.I was so excited to become a mother and to have my baby in my arms. Motherhood was becoming a beautiful thing to me, and I also knew it wouldn't be smooth sailing, but I was definitely up for the challenge. I was so happy Zenia went to Evan and he talked some sense into me. I would've had an abortion if he hadn't shown up at my apartment that day. I cussed myself mentally. I was so stupid, and I was such a coward, but as the days went by with my baby inside me, I knew I was getting stronger and stronger and I'd eventually stop loving Evan and move on with my life. There was just no way Evan would let me move on to another relationship with his baby i

Chapter 48: Breaking Point
Jasmine's POV "I can't take this shit ANYMORE! You must be thinking that I'm some goddamned prisoner in this maximum security hellhole! I told you that I'm leaving and that's exactly what I'm going to do, whether you like it or NOT!" I had reached my breaking point with Evan Hollen. He wasn't interested in forgiving me and starting over, and I was no longer interested in playing house with his ass. I stuffed my bags with clothing and items I had previously bought for myself with his money. "Jasmine, why are you leaving?" "I'm leaving because I want to move on. I want my own life, which doesn't have to revolve around you!" I continued packing up my things. Everything my hands fell on was stuffed into a bag or a suitcase. "Oh, so you're leaving because you want to run into the arms of another man with my child inside of you? You want to start dating again? Well go on ahead! I'm not going to argue with

Chapter 49: Who Did It?
Zenia's POVI rode in the back of the ambulance and listened to my sister groan from the excruciating pain. All I was thinking about was the baby inside of her and how much it would devastate her if something terrible was to happen. Jasmine had adapted to the pregnancy and the motherhood she was about to face. Two days ago, she had called me and told me she was extremely grateful to have me as a sister and everything was going smoothly with her pregnancy, and how much she could picture me being a bad ass aunt to her child. I smiled at that thought. The ambulance came to a halt and the doors flung open. Jasmine was carried through an emergency entrance and I tailed quickly right behind her. I was stopped by other doctors and medical staff when I followed them into a room."You'll have to wait out here, ma'am. No one is allowed in this room." I was pushed outside the room before the doors locked in my face.I paced the floor

Chapter 50: Keys
Evan's POV "The good news: Miss Blackman and the baby are both okay. We've managed to stop the bleeding; but, the bad news is, she lost a great deal of blood. The silver lining is, in time of pregnancy, a woman's body produces enough red blood cells for the growing and developing fetus, so the body is practically healing itself. You're very lucky," the doctor said. I exhaled heavily, as if I had been holding in my breath forever. Thank you Jesus. "Is she awake?" I wanted to see her. "Yes."He ushered us to room 207, where Jasmine was wide awake and looking at the television. "She's one tough cookie," the doctor whispered, "but please don't make her upset or say anything to her that would cause her to become distressed. The baby's condition is still very fragile. We'd like her to remain here for three days for further observation." "We understand," we replied and nodded. "I'll let th
