Chapter 21
The playful look she had on me morphed into seriousness when she noticed the gravity of my words. “Have you had lunch, Sol?” She hinted if I wanted to take this conversation over lunch but I shook my head. There’s no better place but to have this conversation here. “Alright.” She took the hint. “What is it, fratello?” “Remember when I said you’re better suited being the don than I?” She raised a curious brow. A smirk started growing on her painted lips. “I know where this is going.” She said in amusement. “Sol, he gave the family to you for a reason. It was not because I’m a woman or daddy’s little girl. Chapter 22
Avery scowled as she tried to lunge at me. I raised my two hands to block her just in case she really will throw her fist. The woman could pack a powerful punch. I’m not even just saying it out of observation because I did experience it firsthand when we spar one time. “You promised not to harm her.” She chastised.  “I didn’t harm her okay.” I was still putting my guard up, my two hands still full on display on the air. “M-maybe I-I took advantage of her but-” “That’s the more reason I should kill you.” She exclaimed. She took a step forward and I automatically stepped back. “I don’t know if I should be glad that you didn’t hurt her or the fact that she’s pregnant wit

Chapter 23
“You left me, Dante.” She repeated with conviction. I was stunned at her confession. “I know I overreacted. Who wouldn't be? But we could’ve talked, you know. When I came back to the penthouse, you’re no longer there.” “You were the one who left first. I checked your room but you weren’t there anymore.” I tried to defend. “I left to cool myself down.” She retorted. Her look gave off as if she couldn’t believe I did the easy way out. “I can’t face you while I’m still feeling so freaking angry at you. I asked one of your men whom I noticed who kept following me by the way, where you were. He said you left for Italy. Imagine what I felt when you left after you got what you al

Chapter 24
“I do. It’s hard not to know him when I destroyed her painting.” I remember how she always whined about it. I didn't care at first but I was eventually struck at her emotions especially when she cried. It was one of the first times that I actually felt guilty about something.  She shook her head in amusement. “You are such an asshole, Angelo. The girl has been depressed for quite a while. I had to push her about the auction so she could focus on something else and you had to ruin it.” “Well, if I didn’t ruin it, we wouldn’t have met.” I shrugged, reminiscing the first time we met. She was so scared of me. When I kept her as my captive, she often had the courage to stand up against me and when I got angry, she stood back like a wounded pup.

Chapter 25
I dived under the cover and laid down beside her. My arm wrapped around her waist languidly, careful not to squeeze her still flat belly.  Her scent immediately invaded my senses. It made me realize how much I more than just miss her. It was so much more. I dived my nose in between her shoulder and neck and inhaled her even more. I pushed closer against her, eliciting an indescribable warmth which tingled all over my body. The reaction lull me into a state of drowsiness. “Were you serious?” I must have woken her up. Her voice was husky yet stable. “Bout what?” I mumbled, scooting my head deeper to her neck. “That you quit… this life.” She hesitated though

Chapter 26
“Maybe I wanted you more than that.” He murmured. I could barely hear what he said but I managed to.  I scoffed in a sarcastic manner. “Oh you do because I really don’t feel your intention.” I teased but my heart was beating so fast. “I always wanted a family of my own you know.” My head tilted to the side as I listened to him. “Growing up with people who value families, I wanted to have that too. Maybe I wanted it with you. I mean the way you sway your ass in the kitchen like my adorable wife.”  I laugh. “Oh mon dieu. You’re such a pervert.” He smirked mischievously. The one he always showed me before. “Did you kno

Chapter 27
Last night, I didn’t feel Dante get in the bed with me. It’s either he was up so late and I slept like a log which made me not notice him getting in. Or he just didn’t come home. It felt like something deep within was crawling inside me and it was worrying. Ever since I saw Dante with that woman, I have been anxious. He was such a gentleman while opening the door for her. I haven’t felt jealousy my whole life even if it’s towards the girls who liked Ethan. He was charming and I understood that part why many girls have a crush on him.  I don’t know that this time, towards an asshole, I was jealous. I knew the guy was a womanizer from the way he talks about his escapade with women and how he always flirts with me just so he could get me to his bed. When he finally had the chance, h

Chapter 28
Dante “Mr. Di Angelo.” I got up abruptly from my seat beside Hailynn’s bed.  Doctor Rogers stood by the door of the hospital room. His face was relaxed with a slight smile on his face. I assume right away that Hailynn is fine. I sauntered towards him while trying to calm myself. “Your wife is fine and stable now.”  I frowned either way with the news. “Why did she faint? I don't think this is one of her symptoms, right? This is the first time she fainted.” “Right. This is due to stress and mild depression. Although this is normal in pregnancy, I still advise you to be careful and take care of her. This is a c

Chapter 29
“How dare you take me so lightly?” I growled. “You think I tell you these things just to fool you? Why do you think you have the privilege?” Her tears that pooled in her eyes fell slowly down to her cheeks.  “Yeah? Why me?” She muttered. “Why me, Dante? You said so yourself. You’re after a woman who’s in love with somebody else. You could have every beautiful… sexy woman you have yet you chose someone like me. Someone who's been relying too much on her already friend; who can't even pick herself up when she's now alone! Yes, I loved him, Dante, so why me?!”  Tears flowed to her cheeks like waterfalls. I don't know who between us is insecure. I don’t know when I started getting je

Chapter 30 Hailynn was finally released from the hospital. I brought a set of clothes for her to change when I came to pick her up. When we had that conversation the other day, I realized we never thoroughly clarified a lot of things. We didn’t know what we were in each other’s hearts. We were both insecure and I think that talk had brought light to our relationship. Hailynn knows my feelings for her and I know for now that she doesn't still feel the same way but I could see that she’s in the process.  I could confidently say she’s falling. She’s walking on a path that she knows that it will bring her to me. To my heart. And for some reason, I don’t know why the woman in ques
