Feverton, a town founded during the colonial days, is a sort of relic of those far-gone days. Over time, most of these stories became lost in the past, as the people of the colonized lands lost most of what made them who they were. But the truth, just like the sun, the moon, and the stars never remain hidden for long.My name is Lanrey Lugard, yes I am a descendant of the white man who gave the strange name to this strange town. He did so after he almost died of malaria fever as many other white men did during the early days of colonialism. Baroka froze, breathing heavily, and scared half to death. He had never seen a vampire out of a book before. I was sure he had read a lot of the details and stories from books, being that he was from the Lugard family. The Lugard family, a family of monster hunters, ironically founded by a vampire. Our ancestor, the great William Lugard was a monster hunter at the beginning of his life and it was that profession that brought him to these shores all the way from England. He chased two monsters halfway across the planet after these monsters violently murdered his wife. Feverton has always attracted creatures of the supernatural kind, and it was home to many of them before our ancestor even got here. They all came because of the tree hill, an unusually large baobab tree standing on a hill. Legend had it that the tree was magically planted by an old witch doctor when the town needed protection from invaders. The tree then magically attracted the first set of supernatural beings that defended the people of the town against those who would do them harm. But, with every action comes repercussions, these beings all brought their curses with them, thirst, hunger, anger, and many others. Then the witch doctor created the council to keep each group's excesses in check.When our ancestor got to Feverton, after defeating his brother, he was charged with the care of the tree hill, and our manor was built right beside it. I was going to pull out that card during my meeting with the council, a bunch of people who hated the guts of anyone with the Lugard

The founders were ready for us when we got to the meeting, they had painted the whole room with runes and all sort of protection charms against vampires, that was the work of the witches, no doubt. They were all gathered in the "Circle" as they called it, a room in the local government secretariat where every founder meeting were held. The local government chairmen have always been chosen from members of the founders, this enabled a smooth, unhindered operation of the founders and ensured that the secrets of the town was secured. The "Circle," which was a literal circular room divided into five sections meant for the most influential creatures of the town, the vampires, the wolves, the witches and the shape shifters, and the human who were represented by the local government chairman and the police chief. I walked off the road and turned into one of the dimly lit alleyways. The cold night breeze blew into my face and it carried the smell of something else with it, humans enhanced by witchcraft, there were two of them actually, lurking in the darkness of the alley.
