Chapter 11 - Crista
As much as I’d been trying to protest sleeping, least of all in his bed, I can’t deny it feels nice. I wasn’t really able to get much sleep when we were running. All I could see was Ignazio ripping out my father’s heart when I tried to sleep, followed by my mother's. And for the few moments I didn’t see it, I woke to my sisters whimpering and crying out in their sleep.  Add to the fact I generally don’t sleep well in strange places, it was surprising how easily I fell asleep in Alec’s arms. He was right about the bond. I’d been apprehensive about letting him touch me. Primarily because of Chesed. I don’t trust that damn wolf as far as Delilah could throw him.  I still hadn’t been sure if I should trust Alec either. I mean, he did, after all, allow Chesed to run the show all these years. That was an obvious indicator that he’s weak.

Chapter 12 - Alec
Falling asleep wasn’t easy. Holding Crista in my arms, listening to her breathing and the rhythmic beating of her heart was bliss. You would think that the bond would have let me sleep as quickly as my darling mate. But I have Chesed. And each time any part of her body but mainly her full breasts or her smooth legs brushed against me, he not only fell into the gutter, but the dirty bastard also rolled around in it.You’d think he hadn't only hours ago gotten a blow job in his darkroom. Of course, any time I tried to get him out of the gutter and stop filling my mind with mental images of what Crista looks like naked, far worse images entered my mind. Memories I’d rather keep locked in the far reaches of my mind. I’m not sure when I did finally fall asleep, but I did. The bond winning o

Chapter 13 - Crista
I had barely gotten my sisters to settle down when there was a knock at their door. The three of us all turned to look at the door. I relaxed when I didn’t smell my mate. “Come in, Katrina.” I called out. My sisters relaxed a little, too, as Katrina entered the room. “Morning, girls. Morning, Luna.” Katrina smirked, bowing her head to me. “Can you not call me that?” I rolled my eyes. ‘Speak for yourself. I like being called Luna. We were obviously born to be one. If not, the goddess wouldn’t have mated us to an Alpha.’ Emilia scoffed. “What did the dick wolf do?” Katrina sighed, folding her arms. ‘Dick wolf.’ Emilia snickered. ‘She’s not wrong.’ I commented. ‘Maybe, but based on how well he felled out the front of his boxers, he’s a big one.’ Emilia waggled her wolf brow at me. ‘God, when did you become this horny she-wolf? You were never like this before.’ I

Chapter 14 - Alec
I groaned in frustration, trying to yank Chesed back. I know he was getting agitated the more he thought about Santi and Ignazio. But he didn’t need to take back control. He’s going to ruin everything. I saw it in her reaction earlier. She was thinking about kissing me. And then he tried to come forward, and she backed away. ‘Stupid wolf. Can’t you tell that when you are in control, she’s colder to us? She let me get closer to her. Hell, I think she’d have let me kiss her. But you pushed forward, and she stepped away.’ I rolled my eyes as I watched her walking away. “We’ll meet you later, Alpha.” Katrina nodded politely, but her eyes were full of judgment. Even my daughter knows Chesed is screwing this up. “T...thank you for breakfast.” The little one… Delilah stammered as she hurried to catch up with her older sisters. Persephone didn’t even say thank you or

I wasn’t sure what to expect when we left. I can say I didn’t expect to be clinging to the door handle as my life depended on it. “K… Katrina. Where did you learn to drive?” I choked out the words as I tried to get my heart out of my throat and my ass to stop clenching. And I thought running for my life from Mandonie wolves was terrifying.“Alpha, of course.” Katrina smirked, climbing out of the Maserati Quattroporte Modena Q4 like she hadn’t nearly killed us with her breakneck speed. I only know the model of the car because Persephone is a car nut and squealed when Katrina walked up to the crisp white car in the garage. Personally, I don’t care. I was content with my Fiat, which has probably been scrapped. Fucking Ignazio.

Chapter 16 - Alec
As we entered the lower level, the path was clear to the only person in a cell, Santi. I rarely have to put a pack member down here, but he crossed a line last night. Even if Crista hadn’t turned out to be my mate, he still crossed a line. And he’d still have ended up sitting here in a cell, just maybe not in such rough shape. Rough was undoubtedly a good word. Unlike the windowless dank room my father liked to lock me in, this room was new and lacked many medieval dark ages esthetics. There were no windows, but there were vents to circulate air. Instead of torches, fluorescent lights were casting a harsh bright light on the plain grey cement walls.  My grandfather was very meticulous when he had this place built. Every outside wall was laced with silver, a metal that can weaken any supernatural creature to

Chapter 17 - Crista
The patrol office looked new, well newer than the town hall. It was undoubtedly built in a different era, even if some of the architecture tried to stay with the same old-world charm of other buildings we passed in town. “How long ago was the patrol office built?” I asked, looking at the imposing building.  “I’m not sure the exact year. But it was built during Alpha Marcus’s reign.” Isadora explained. “Marcus was papa’s grandfather.” Katrina chimed in probably because she saw me trying to figure out how many Alphas ago that was. I nodded. That didn’t exactly give me an exact time frame but a rough one. Maybe if I knew how old my mate actually is, that would help. ‘Ha, you called him your mate! You’ve claimed him!’ Emilia cheered, bouncing around in my head like she had just won a prize. ‘That doesn’t mean I won’t reject him. Till we actually finish the b

Mourning
"Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,Silence the pianos and with muffled drumBring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Let aeroplanes circle moaning overheadScribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves. He was my North, my South, my East and West,My working week and my Sunday rest,My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong. The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.

Chapter 18 - Alec
‘Well, this is a turn of events. I can certainly work with this. Crista wants to know what I’ve been thinking. Give me control, and I’ll show her.’ Chesed smirked, rising to his feet starting to step forward. ‘No.’ I shook my head. I can’t let him take control, and I won’t. ‘The last time you were in control, you snarled at her. And the time before that, she walked out of the house with a cold farewell. I can continue with examples of how you ruined this. So sit there and stay out of it.’ I reminded him.  I am not letting him ruin this. Crista is my mate. When she’s in a wolf form or gives her wolf control, I’ll let Chesed step up. But Crista obviously isn’t interested in being close to Chesed. So he needs to stay back. ‘Do you even remember what to do with a woman? Been a long time since Liliana.’ Chesed t

Chapter 19 - Crista
My heart was still racing. I can’t believe that just happened. ‘You and I both. The fuck was Persephone thinking beaver blocking like that. And then bringing up last night in front of our Betas and worse a whole building of pack members.’ Emilia grumbled. ‘Not what I was talking about. I just had my first kiss in an elevator and let it escalate to the point that I was in my underwear.’ I rolled my eyes as I tugged Persephone and Delilah out of the office. I did my best to keep my head held high with what dignity I might still have left. ‘Persephone Grace Fayte. What the hell were you thinking back there?’ I hissed through our family link. ‘What? You had been in that elevator for almost fifteen minutes. We were worried something was wrong.’ Persephone tried to defend herself.  ‘You beaver blocked us, damn it!
