Chapter Sixty-One.
Once again, the enemy had reached their hand out and tried to grasp what was his away. Once more, he had been tested and taunted. Pablo fisted his hands and lifted his steeled gaze but what met him instead was the agonizing sight of his woman suddenly letting out a screeching scream with her hands spread out and desperately clutching to either sides of her head and her eyes shut tight. “Tania!” He brought her into his arms, holding her dearly as he kissed her on the head and held her face so he could search her frantic tired eyes and speak to her. “Hey…you’re here with me now, they won’t dare come hurt you anymore. I won’t let any harm come to you okay?” She nodded tentatively and he kissed her again, wrapping his arms around her. Lifting his gaze above her, he saw a pensive Bloom who looked ready to ignite her water works once more if anything occurred with the woman. Her worry and extreme concern touched him, he was glad and thankful such people had been around when such a dreadfu

Pablo's resolve became incontrovertible, it was time he addressed the issue directly and not sit behind his desk asserting and commanding results. When he arrived at his destination, in a malicious gait, he was lunging through those large tempered-glass doors, unconcerned about the staff around as he sent himself riding the elevator and indignantly bursting into the Salvador's office. Gazes met with malignant standoff, Pablo taking calculative strides into the office room while the stout and obstreperous man stood up from his seat, wearing a supercilious smirk. The group of four men clad completely in black suits were already reaching their hands into their suit jackets, prepared to pull out their guns on the spot as they formed a shield in front of their boss who waved his hand to have them return to their posts while he approached the younger man. “What’s with the impatience to come see me heh? That eager to come thank me for my little gift?” Salvador spoke with a scruffy voice, a

Bloom was surprised at the sudden move but that state was short lived when she felt the soft touch of his skin against hers from the feel of his face being buried into the nook of her neck. And she blushed vehemently when he drew in a deep breath of her scent. “W-what are you doing?!” And as usual, she was ever overly conscious of the public display of affection of which he was always deliberately dense about. This obnoxious attitude of his made her stiffen, thinking he was going to do more than assault her neck. But nothing transpired after that. He was only holding her tightly pressed against his chest, steadily inhaling against her skin and exhaling with delay. Bloom’s instincts rang, there was something saddling his mind again. She could read from his behavior and quietude that he wasn’t in the mood to discuss about it so she did what she felt was best and required of her at that moment and carefully traced her arms around the top of his broad shoulders, easing the friction of

“W-why are y-you here?” That was the quivering voice of the old man, but who was it that wringed such a pathetic cry from him? Adrian could only peer out a little and he was able to identify the menacing group of six men whose malicious presence spread throughout the office. Four of them had their guns pointed to the heads of Salvador’s men that were with their hands up in surrender. “Why do you look so frazzled to see us, Salvador? You see, one of my boys informed me some pristine youth came to see you earlier and you sort of…coughed out some important information you shouldn’t have. Not to mention the game of tag you’ve been having going on right under our noses”. The man in front spoke to the older man with a very calm composure and donned a smile even.Salvador was close to pissing his pants as he shrank beneath the mafioso’s aura, a thick sheen of sweat forming over his forehead and sweat rolling down his temples and he struggled to swallow the lump in his throat. ‘Shit! "Leave”. It was a cold command as Hayes's tenor of speech reeked of his disapproval to have that man in his presence and the same space as he was. The look in eyes was grim and his face, stoned. Bloom was perplexed as the atmosphere around them seemed to thicken with malice and aversion. She looked over at Stefano who stood beside her with an indifferent look and nudged him to get his attention on her. “Why don’t you do something? They’re gonna rip each other apart!” Her voice was a low whisper-yell and what she was saying got Stefano quirking a brow. She wanted him to involve himself with those two? In that corrupt air that they reigned in? He fixed a crippling smile and brought a hand to rest on her head. “Bloom, we can’t interfere in their personal matters and you know it's rude. Don’t trouble that brain of yours and calm down, they’ll settle things between themselves”. How convincing and assuring he sounded and with such a smile like that. But the woman was unmoved by his wor

Pablo shook out of his trance and stepped forward, “I know you’ve gotten all the reports on me and my Company…you’re mad at me for keeping silent about this and not giving a proper reason to why I chose to remain silent about it”. “Isn’t that the same manner you cut all ties with me and left for all those years?” Hayes spat bitterly, accusing him with anger in his voice and contempt in his eyes. Bloom saw this and was about to say something to caution it when he grabbed her around the waist and pulled her down into his chair with him. ‘This obstinate man!’ He had her sit onto his lap with a secure arm around her lower torso and the other gently clasped over her mouth to prevent her from peeling off his pride. Pablo looked ashamed after he said that and fisted his hands at his sides. That was a weakness he displayed openly and Hayes thrived greedily on it. “You fucking suddenly turn off on me and next I know, you’re gone. Just like that, you vanished into thin air without a word, m

Bloom was getting sucked into his burning passion that melted all her restraints as she replied his corrosive drive. Not until a sudden wave of awareness hit her with a jolt and she pulled away on an impulse.A trail of saliva drew a connected line from her lip to Hayes's and when she gulped and flitted upward to look into his eyes, she stiffened and blushed embarrassedly. The intrinsic, delusional look within his dark orbs glinted with an unknown desire that she ransacked her brain for a fitting terminology until she settled for addiction, carefully watching how his hazy eyes glided down her face and he brought his hand to run down her cheek.'He definitely knows what he's doing, teasing me like this' She felt flabbergasted at his conniving act and swatted his hand away. She stood up with the look etched on her face as she bit the blush away.Hayes chuckled knowingly as she huffed and stepped away from him. She didn't say anything as she gave him a last glance before rounding his tabl

“We should come here again sometime- when you’re less busy and not nose deep into your cluttered desk” Tania laughed to her joke, her grip around his arm fastening as Pablo gave her a hard look. He removed his gaze from her, a smile lighting his expression as he spoke softly, “Well, we could come by again. And you know all you have to do is threaten me over the phone and I’ll be here as fast as I can”. Tania’s smile fell to bring up a frown as she removed her hands from the man and stood with offence dying her face a pale red color. “You say it like I’m some imposing and insufferable brute of a woman. You’re being mean to me” And she whined petulantly at the end. Pablo was with a smirk though and was ebullient at her return and forgiveness as she came back to her spot and held onto a pout she was defiant to let go. “Tania” He pronounced her name delicately, making her want to hide her face so she can keep holding onto her dissipating anger. But he was rather adamant on his insiste

Pablo reflexively became rigid, aware of what was coming his way as Tania’s body laid on a stretcher, covered with a white sheet while the paramedics wheeled her towards the morgue. It meant she was really gone…she had gone so far to a place he couldn’t accompany her. As the distance expanded between them, so did the aching and aggrieving pain plunge deeper in through his shattered heart and broken soul. In silence, his tall frame rattled solemnly as his broad shoulders slummed along with his agonizing sorrow. The sound of hurrying feet came in from a distance, growing closer and louder by the second until they stopped behind him whose head was against a wall as his shaky hands clutched his shirt in a tight grip. Stefano saw the people who had arrived and pushed off the wall to meet them. Bloom looked devastated and fatigued. After she had heard Stefano’s report over the phone, she was inflicted with immense grief and sobbed all the way there. She had only known Tania for a short ti

“He never told you, did he? Of the family he killed in that fire” Pablo looked delirious and gave a humorless laughter, watching Stefano’s eyes expand in shock. With a slow turn, he saw the shift in the Don’s face and chuckled bitterly. “You’ve probably thought you buried me along those ashes…right, dad?” His utterance made Stefano snap his head towards the older man whose expression was regressing into something unpleasant the more his eyes lingering on Pablo who now ripped his dress shirt and exposed a prominent tattoo that was worn proudly onto the bodies of the mafiosos that worked under his command. Beating his chest with his voice rising and falling with every word, he said, “You fucking abandoned us- your family to die inside that building! You never even considered that woman…who stood by your side regardless of the beast you were! You…thought we wouldn’t come to know about it, did you, dad?” As each desperate and forced claim issued out of him, he was indignantly possessed
