Chapter 21
“The beast! The beast from the east escaped. He escaped, he escaped!” The monster shouted, its words coming out incoherently as he kicked a large tree standing in front of him again and again. The leaves rustled, fell on the ground as the trunk shakes. The monster lets out a frustrated snarl. It opened its mouth to scream — three voices came out from its mouth. A sound so gut wrenching that the birds resting on the trees fly away. A soft cackle of a child. “We’ll get them next time.” The voice of Jill resounded. Her soft cheerful voice echoing in the empty forest. “We’re strong. We’ll kill them. We’ll kill the beast and Accashia. We can do it. We can!” She cheered again and again as if it’s a game. The monster gave the tree another strong kick. “But we had them last night! We almost killed them last night!” Last night, Luther battled with the beast. But he looked different from before. His silver hair had a tinge of brown. His eyes were not red and he doesn’t have fangs or claws. T

Chapter 22
Pain. Insurmountable pain. Accashia’s skin was on fire. Her chest felt tight, as if a heavy boulder was placed on top of her. Every breath shot more pain to her brain. Everything twisted and warped, even though she knew that she couldn’t actually see anything. The young lady opened her eyes, and when she did — pain shot throughout her aching body. Her vision was blurry. Accashia tried to move and couldn’t. More pain lashed up her ribs, and then she stretched arms. It’s her wrists that hurt the most, but she couldn’t move her hands. It was as if she was pushed down by an invisible force. Her body waved against the dried bushes. Accashia tried to open her mouth or part her lips but she couldn’t. Harsh breaths wheezed in and out of her nose. And when she tried to speak, nausea ran through her stomach. The clouds above her rolled and moved slowly, leisurely. She tried to curl on her side to stand but she couldn’t. Accashia screamed but the noise muffled behind her tightly sealed lips.

Chapter 23
Hundreds of Shadows marched towards the darkness. Their boney feet sink against the mud. "Prepare yourselves." Katalka, the leader, reminded his army. His voice was laced with dread and regret after seeing the decimated castle. The once proud castle of Shaldan was now nothing but a ruin and a landmark. A symbol of the past — and lair to their Mistress. To their Creator, Ursula, the Wicked Witch. Half of the Castle was beginning to crumble. If strong winds blow against the castle walls, a few dents and rocks are visibly blown away. Soon, the moon appeared and the thick clouds covering the sky vanished. It was the cue that they were summoned to the castle. And Katalka was worried how they would face the Wicked Witch knowing that they failed again. "Steady." Katalka spoke, and he was the first one to march inside the castle. Soon, the Shadows followed him, lining and marching by pair as they entered the lone castle. The Shadows hummed after the castle shook and rumbled a little. Stron

Chapter 24
Instead of going to the eastern Kingdom as originally planned, Luntian, Accashia and Calleb journeyed towards the boundary where the east meets the west. The heart of the Continent. The hidden valley where the powerful Sorceress named Mayari Tabbu serves as the protector of the people. Calleb was still unconscious. For Luntian placed a powerful spell on him. A spell that places him in a deep slumber — a sleep like death until the Spirit of the Ram snaps his finger to wake Calleb again. As harsh as it may seem, Luntian thought that it was the only way. For Calleb was a threat, not only to himself but to Accashia as well. Using the Spirits, Luntian searched for a carriage that they could use to travel. An old three wheeled carriage. As old as it may seem — but it was still stable enough to carry Calleb. So they marched forward, and luckily enough, they’ve also found a horse along the way. Luntian called for the horse, riding its back. Her chest still aches, but it doesn’t hurt as muc

Chapter 25
Passing through the unknown valley where everyone was living in peace, Accashia and Luntian rode the horse while looking at the beautiful surroundings. The homes of the people hang from the gigantic branches of the forest trees. The women were foraging while the men were hunting. Luntian sighed and she smiled. Feeling warmth on her chest as the promise Mayari Tabbu made to herself and Luntian finally came to life. A promise made before the Kingdom of Shaldan became ruined and tarnished with a dark curse and legend. And that promise was to create a place where people who are banished from their home create peace in this Valley. A place where they are accepted. For Mayari Tabbu had been banished from the land of Shaldan as well. For the Sorceress was blamed for a crime she did not commit. It was told and spread in the Kingdom that she was making and creating weapons to overthrow the King — the Alpha. But that is not true. For Mayari Tabbu’s appearance may be spiteful and unpleasant,

Chapter 26
Darkness was all around, and he could see nothing but the flicker of orange and red in a second before it disappeared again. Calleb can feel hard things brush against his skin, as well as soft and sponge like things. There were sharp objects scraping painfully against his body. But blood wasn't drawn out from his skin. The young man felt like his body was being pushed and pulled and his fingers and toes were being cut off by something invisible, dismembering him slowly. And then the most disgusting feeling assaulted him. Hundreds of maggots crawled on his skin. Sink to his flesh and drank his blood. It feasted on him. The flies laid eggs on his skin. He tried to scream, but he couldn't. He called for help but he couldn't because his lips were sewn tight. There was this lingering awful pain. And then suddenly he saw a small light the size of a grain. It got even bigger and bigger until it was the size of his head. He swam through the thick liquid, then as he reached the rim. Calleb

Chapter 27
This is one of the most tranquil places she had ever been to, Accashia noted to herself. She stares at the sky where the light mixed with the darkness — creating a beautiful twilight. The silhouette of the moon can be seen, as the rays of the sun slowly fade into nothing. The young lady arched her neck to stare into the sky. She just finished eating supper along with the people in the valley who always seem to be singing a lulling lullaby. She wondered when it would be over, she wondered if the journey had even begun. Her mind wandered even farther as she stared at the setting sun. The words uttered to her by the sorceress, how could she forget? ‘Darkness in your eyes, darkness in your heart. Darkness in every nook and cranny, you feel your world is falling apart. But don’t worry my child, everything will be alright. Listen well to Mayari Tabbu, because I tell you, I never lie. Happiness you seek, happiness you’ll feel but the bridge towards happiness is up to you to unveil.’ Accas

Unlike what the young lady had imagined, Calleb was calm and did not do or say a thing while they found the way home to Mayari Tabbu’s hut. When they arrived at the center of the village, each of them were assigned their temporary homes for the night. Calleb was told to sleep in one of the homes that hangs on the tree. While Luntian and Accashia will sleep in the hut. However, even after taking a shower and though it was such a peaceful night, Accashia couldn’t sleep. She knew something was wrong. Luntian wasn’t beside her. She was alone, and cold. She got used to someone sleeping beside her, may it be Jill, her mother or the old Shaman. She never liked the idea of sleeping alone. Not only that but the back of her neck feels weird. As if there’s a tingling sensation. Like millions or hundreds of insects were crawling on her back. Accashia found herself shivering. Goosebumps showed on her skin, and the back of her neck felt numb. She wanted to scratch it, maybe even slam her back agai

Chapter 29
Morning came and Calleb told the two it was time for them to head onto their journey. Mayari Tabbu told them to replenish themselves and stock food on their carriage before they go. “It’s a long journey ahead.” Mayari Tabbu said. “As our ancestors said, food is important to the soul, lest you wind up dead. Our souls, our bodies always need to be fed. So I insist, please take this sack full of bread.” Luntian thanked the Sorceress for such a generous gift. She asked Accashia and Calleb to go to the Carriage first — not wanting the two to hear what she’s about to say to the Sorceress. For she plans to keep it a secret between them, that should remain hidden as it is. The old Shaman looked left and right, trying to see if someone was looking at the exchange between her and the powerful Sorceress. Luntian walked closer and closer until she was in front of the Mayari Tabbu once again. “Mayari Tabbu, with you I entrust this blade…” She said, “...a Black Blade that remains unknown to how

Chapter 30
Calleb dreams of a voice, mellow, soulful and thinks he recognizes the melody it wraps around, if not the words. ‘My beautiful son, gifted by the gods. He was sent to me, a gift from above. His beautiful silver hair, his skin so fair. His eyes of blue and gray, the colors he and his father’s eyes share. My son… my Calleb…’ ‘Calleb…’ ‘My son…’ ‘I’m glad you’re here with us… You’re so beautiful, my son…’ ‘My Calleb.’ He follows it, feet moving on instinct, the song growing louder as he gets closer, stronger. There’s gray all around, a mist, cold and clinging, so thick he can barely see his fingers in front of him. It’s the wind. Strong winds that he never felt before. And then there was dust and clay and the ground flowing with the wind. As they merged and formed — it showed him a form of a woman. A body. Tall. Beautiful and golden. Eyes auburn and lips pink as a rose, Behind her stood the full moon. She looked like an angel. “Calleb, my son… come.” And the woman ran, almost flo
