Chapter Twenty-One
After Cody had fully calmed down (it took him awhile) he finally let me get ready. As I said before, these clothes looked hella expensive, I'm talking breaking the bank kind of money, Martha must have had a literal field day buying these. But I have to give credit where credit is due, she did pick loads of amazing clothes that I will definitely wear.  She's been going on for years about revamping my wardrobe, she always goes on and on about me wearing the same stuff. It's true, I like the stuff I like and I never feel the need to change that. But now I'm looking at these clothes, maybe I should have let her do my wardrobe sooner, it might have saved Reece and Justin's wardrobe too.  I don't know why we're having such a fancy dinner, it's not like we're introducing ourselves to each other. Martha and I have known each other since nursery and I've h

Chapter Twenty-Two
We continued on our journey to the pack house, no one was about as we walk down the dark path. I assumed this place would look scary at night as it's literally in the middle of the woods, but they have lights everywhere and it looks quite nice if I'm being honest.  The pack house soon comes into view on our journey, it's there I start to see a few people walking about doing their thing. Then I quickly remember the rule, regular pack members are not allowed passed that point, so that's why I didn't see anyone! I just thought everyone was scared of the dark or something. As we inch even closer I spot two people stood outside the steps of the building, Martha and Scott stood patiently at the bottom of the stairs.  "Erika!" She cheers before running towards me, or her version of running as she was in heels and that's not her specialty, she's very near

Chapter Twenty-Three
It was the next morning, last nights dinner was something I've never seen before. I stuck with my vegetables all night, while Martha actually tried some of the more alive options, I have never seen that much puke in my entire life. But overall it was a good night, I got to know Scott a little better which just made me even more confused.  At the dinner he was so nice, at first I thought he must be putting some kind of act on. If he was he should become an actor because I never saw through it once, or he's generally such a nice guy. But that doesn't explain why he went and attacked the town, even went as far as to go against Cody's orders. What could the town have done to make him so angry? We lost a few people that day for reasons none of us knew and I still don't know, I haven't a clue if Cody's gonna tell me or not.  He claimed the reason for hi

Chapter Twenty-Four
Scott holds the door to Cody's office open as I walk up, I'm gonna level with you when I say I was so nervous. I know Cody trusts Scott obviously, as he's his Beta and he wouldn't let me walk in a room alone with him if he didn't, but I don't have many good things to say about him. Yes I know I said at the dinner he was a nice guy, but I also said how I didn't know if he was playing some kind of act.  Once I'm in he closes the door behind me, that didn't add to me being terrified at all! I smile as he walks around to Cody's desk opening the file, I didn't know people actually carry around those file folder things, I just thought it was in movies and tv shows.  "Okay, I have loads of information on your mum, sorry it's taken me this long" he says pulling the different documents out, I totally forgot I asked him to help look for my mum.

Chapter Twenty-Five
I stand in the corridor for a few minutes, many questions just kept swirling through my head. Does my mum regret leaving us? Does she ever think of us? Was she just going to allow us to believe she was dead forever? Did she know about her mate before but waited until she had no choice but leave? There are so many questions that I want to be answered, but I don't know if I'm ready to hear the answers yet.  I knew I had to somehow break the news to my family, but it's something I wouldn't want to over the phone. I have to figure out a way to talk to them face to face, without crossing any borders. I decide to text them we needed to talk as Cody walks down the hall, I send him a little smile while finishing sending the text.  "What did Scott want to talk to you about?" He asks looking rather tense, I wanted to tell him but I didn't know if I'd fully

Chapter Twenty-Six
A few hectic hours had passed since I first proposed my crazy idea, the rest of the pack soon got word about the changes and were also happy. It's great to see everyone working together to make this work, the humans and the wolves were helping each other so it could get done in time.   I was helping Cody and Scott set up the place for the wolves, the only thing I wasn't going to help with was the poor animals, knowing me I'll feel bad and release them all. I was just finishing setting up the barrier separating the wolves and the human section, we didn't want anyone getting hurt if something ran to our bit.  I stand up straight looking around at what we've done, you had the wolf's part which was just an open wood with the barriers. Across from that was where I know I'll be spending most of my time, the children's part, I just love being around

Chapter Twenty-Seven
This was bad, my dad wasn't kidding when he said if any of the girls go back he'll kill them. It's not like the police guarding the place won't know who Martha is, that's all they were thinking about for weeks after the raid. Why would she even wanna go back? Last time I was at town even her family didn't want anything to do with her, is she doing this on purpose?  A part of me was hoping if my dad did see her, he'd be a bit more lenient as it's Martha and I've known her since we were little. But than again my dads been after blood since the raid, to top it all off with what we've learnt about mum, it's not looking good.  "I think it's best if I go to town to see if she's there" I say as I knew Scott was about to sprint to town, which was extremely fast might I add.  "She's my ma

Chapter Twenty-Eight
The people get closer where I could now see who they were, my dad was leading the group while Justin was close behind him. Reece emerges from the trees somewhere just ahead, he looked like a ninja! I know this wasn't really the time but it was nice to see them, I also know it's not even been a week since I left. But I used to see all of them every single day no matter what, now it's changed to me not seeing them for days, it's a huge swift!  I feel a hand take my arm and pull me back slightly, I knew from which arm was grabbed that it was Cody who did it. His hand remained on my arm holding me, but not in a rough way just in a way to keep me there. "Erika" is all my dad says as they stop abruptly, they very nearly went over the border line, that wouldn't have been good.  "I'm okay no need to panic, the reason we're here is due

Chapter Twenty-Nine
It doesn't take us long to leave the wood part of town and make it to main part, walking through the woods none of us spoke. I had so much to tell Reece that I know for sure he wouldn't tell my dad especially, but I didn't know if there were others around to hear what I was saying, who definitely would tell my dad.  "Is it bad to say that I'm kind of happy Martha's gone on one of her hide and seek journeys?" Reece asks breaking the silence as all the houses come into view, I always thought this place was massive but it doesn't even compare to the town at home "it's sucked without you here, I've had to manage with Justin turning all sophisticated on me, you won't believe the laugh I had to hold in when he entered the room dressed like that" Reece chuckles as we begin to walk in the direction of Martha's parents house, in my mind that would be the only place she would really wanna go.

Chapter Thirty
I stare at the thing frozen in place for a few seconds, my body couldn't move or allow me to form a sentence. Reece continues to list all the different rules the town has changed, I knew this meant he hadn't saw what I'm seeing right now because he definitely wouldn't be straight up ignoring it.  "R-Reece" I stutter out my eyes still not leaving the floating thing in front of me, the sentence left my lips so quietly that I worried he didn't hear it, but he looks up thankfully hearing what I said, I didn't know if I'd be able to form another.  "Are you okay?" He asks raising to his feet and rushing over to me, I still couldn't form a sentence so I lift my arm up and point to what I was seeing.  He follows my hand and also clocks what I was seeing, he whips his head around to look
