Chapter 21
"Allison Klassen!" a voice yelped in recognition right before Allie found herself seized in a chokehold and squeezed until she was breathless. "How the heck are you, little girl!?"Allie laughed and tugged at Serena's elbow, pulling it down and gasping for breath. She looked into the beautiful brown eyes of one of her mother's oldest friends. Warmth flooded Allie and she felt completely at peace for the first time since coming back to the coast. She knew Serena would be pleased to see her. Allie was just happy to find the older Salish woman still working at the shelter where Veronica and Allie had first met her twenty-five years ago when they'd been evicted from their Downtown Eastside apartment a few blocks away. Serena had welcomed them with open arms back then too."You look wonderful, Aunty Serena," Allie said, grinning. She touched the long braid, now shot through with thick strands of silver, that hung over Serena's shoulder. Serena wasn't her aunt by blood, but she was kin i

Chapter 22
Allie went back to staring out the window. Clouds were gathering across the sky, stretching out towards the mountains. She wondered what Jay was going to do to her. Despite Serena's words, she knew that Jay wasn't going to let her go unpunished. He couldn't. He was a powerful man, head of a powerful organization. He hadn't gotten to where he was by letting challenges go unanswered. Allie may be the one person in his world that held influence over him, but she would not get away with challenging his authority unscathed. Especially with a direct command. He had told her to stay away from the Eastside. She had disobeyed, knowing he would have to retaliate. She shifted in her seat and glanced sideways at him through the curtain of her long hair. He had always seemed serious to her. Beloved, yes, but always serious and commanding in every situation. Like the weight of the world was on him. Even now, when he looked grim and angry, she wanted to soothe him. Jay abruptly ended his conversatio

Chapter 23
Tears filled Allie's eyes and she swiped at them before they could fall. She dropped her hand again. It fell on the latch for the patio door. She stared at it and then out into the darkening, rain-filled sky. She slipped off her sandals. Then, without glancing back at Jay, she threw the door open and ran full-tilt into the pounding rain. She heard his surprised shout, followed by a vicious swear. She knew it was only the element of surprise and her head start that gave her any chance whatsoever of escaping him for a few precious seconds. Then she heard him shout an order that froze the blood in her veins."Hold your fire, it's Allison heading for the docks. Don't fucking shoot!"She decided not to stop running. Jay would keep her safe, he wouldn't let his men or anyone else hurt her. The only person determined to hurt her, to keep her chained up and suffocated was the man pounding down the steps behind her. He would catch her. There was only one way her wild flight through the rain w

Finally angry, he pulled her up into the cradle of his arms and shook her, then held her tightly, both of them breathing heavily, Allie from exertion and Jay from arousal. "Stop, Allie. I will make this good for you if it kills us both. But if you don't stop fighting I'll have to tie you down. Not like Kelowna, but really tie you down, spread out and ready for my use. Is that what you want?"She thought about it for all of a second and then shook her head and whispered, "No.""Then stop fighting me every step of the way, I'm not going to hurt you more than necessary.""I'm scared," she said, her voice shaking."I know, love. I'll take care of you," he said against her hair. "Now go down on your hands and knees."He pushed her forward onto the bed and swept the rags of her clothing aside. He ran his fingers down her back and over the globes over her ass drawing shivers from her. She'd always been a little sensitive about the size of her ass given her curviness, but tried not to wor

Chapter 25
"Tell me you're just daydreaming and not plotting your next escape attempt."Startled, Allie glanced over her shoulder at Greg who had entered through the patio door and was walking toward her. He stopped next to her island perch to look her over with amusement. She was sitting cross-legged on the kitchen island wearing a flowing rose-coloured summer dress over black calf leggings. Her hair was thrown up in a messy top knot to keep it off her neck while she baked cheese biscuits for the guards. She'd decided it wasn't their fault Jay hired them to babysit her and the house. She had been deep in thought over an actual course on social activism she wanted to take. That and blow jobs. She had little to no experience on that subject and she thought maybe she could use a refresher and wondered how she could go about asking Jay without horribly embarrassing herself.Allie glanced over at Greg and wondered which thought she should tell him about. She decided against blow jobs, since he see

He walked her down to the dock, chatting quietly with her the entire way about nothing in particular. He stopped once to point across the cove, as though showing her something. He instructed her to nod. Allie bit her lip and complied, holding back a rush of tears. She hoped Greg was going to be okay and that he might wake up and be able to call for help, for both their sakes. She didn't know what Hershel planned to do with her, but based on his actions so far it wasn't anything good. They made it down to the dock without drawing undue notice from the security team. Hershel stopped them in front of the Predator yacht and stepped back from Allie, giving her a friend zone amount of space. She stiffened in surprise and nearly bolted before remembering the gun. She forced herself to take a deep breath and turn to face Hershel, dropping her arms stiffly at her side."Good girl," he said coldly. "Now cross your arms in front of you, like you're keeping warm from the breeze and smile at me

Chapter 27
Jay stared helplessly at the churning waves as the speedboat ate up the distance between him and the men that had Allie. The stiff set of his shoulders invited the two other men present and the driver to keep their distance for now. He could hear them strategizing behind him. Good. They were dockyard security, they would probably have a better idea than him how best to get Allie back while taking the fewest risks. Jay would content himself with imagining the most painful ways his Triad friends would pay for this infraction. The trick was going to be keeping his temper in check so he could keep them alive long enough to do justice to what he had in mind.It had been nine minutes since she was taken. Six minutes since Greg's agonized and muddled call to him, which was second only after calling to house security. Jay could feel worry for his old friend clawing at him, but knew he would have to table it until he retrieved Allie. Greg would do what had to be done or die trying. He was a to

Chapter 28
"Get up, bitch."Allie blinked in the harsh sunlight and moaned in pain as her arm was taken in a tight grip and she was jerked upright. She stumbled against someone. The world tilted and spun around her, nausea threatening to overwhelm her. Allie lifted a hand to her throbbing temple and groaned as her fingers brushed against tender skin. Vomit rushed up her throat and she dropped to her knees and heaved on the the deck of the yacht.Someone swore viciously and quickly stepped away from her, out of the path of her regurgitated breakfast. Intense pain ripped through Allie's skull and she realized right away that she must have a concussion from the blow to her temple. She huddled against the side of the yacht, dropped her head onto her knees and wrapped her arms protectively around her head. She hoped desperately that the punch hadn't done permanent damage."Yídòng tā. Right fucking now," someone close by snarled.Hard hands wrapped around Allie's waist and dragged her to her feet.

Allie gasped and pulled herself up straighter. "I… I didn't know. I mean, I always suspected that was how Jay got so powerful, but I didn't know he wanted out… because of me."His black eyes searched her face intently. "Yes. Very few of us discuss business with family. It is safer, of course. Involving family, as you have become involved… it is unusual."Allie understood. She should never have been taken. Jay took precautions of course, but involving loved ones within an organizational dispute was like declaring war. It was extremely rare. And it wouldn't go unanswered. Any move against family would be avenged with swift and bloody results."Why is your father angry with Jay?" Allie asked quietly. "Why would he break the rules this way?""Li Wei has had to renegotiate his docking contracts with other yards, which will cost him millions. He is stuck in the old ways and not willing to look forward and try new methods, as I have many times suggested. He has been losing money for some

Chapter 30
6 Weeks LaterJay paced the pool deck from end to end, going over all of his reasons for confining Allie. The risk to her was too great if she were allowed the freedom to resume the things she enjoyed. Because the things Allie enjoyed tended to mean throwing herself headfirst into situations that could too easily get her into trouble. But that was part of what made Allie who she was. The woman he loved.Jay had been pacing indoors, but the confining space had caused his claustrophobia to well up too close to the surface. He'd thrown the French doors open and resumed his brooding outdoors, under the amused speculation of his security team."I should've gone with her," he muttered, rubbing a hand over his face. But she hadn't wanted him to. She'd asked him to stay home and wait for her. To trust her to know what she was doing. Fuck that. The second she walked in the door, he was chaining her to their bed, imprinting himself on every inch of her body and never letting her leave his
