21. YOU CAN'T
Stephanie was pissed that Tom was playing hard to get with her. She had decided to abandon her pride and just let him know how she felt, but it was clear as day that he didn’t have a space for her in his heart. She had done her background check and found out that he didn’t have any crush or girlfriend, so she was confident that she would certainly be able to win his heart. She didn’t entirely blame him though, because she was the one that flunked her chance, he had made his crush obvious to her and even confessed, but she turned him down because she felt he was not up to his standard. “I feel like a fool”, she muttered to herself, and blinked severely to stop the tears that were about to come out. She wanted to start the car when she held a knock on her window, she lowered it and saw Tom there heaving as he rested his hand on the car. “Where do you think you are going at this time?”, he asked, and she raised her confused eyebrows. “What do you mean? I am going home, of course”, sh

22. BECAUSE I AM YOUR MOTHER
Chairman Holland got dressed and sat down at the dining table to have breakfast that was placed in front of him. He took a spoon of the sauce from his plate and spat it out at the speed of light. A deep frown etched on his forehead as he turned to yell at Anita, who was busy overseeing the other dishes in the kitchen few meters away from the table. “What is this trash? Did you lose your sense of taste? Why have you been cooking rubbish in this house for some time?”, he shouted as he slammed his hand on the table at the mention of each word. Anita was taken aback and enveloped with fear at his fuming site that she didn’t know if she should apologize first or rush over to change his sauce. She wiped her hand continuously on her apron in fear as Chairman rained a heap of insults on her while she just stood there with nothing to say. Joseph, who overheard the commotion from his room, went outside to check what was happening to his father, who was fuming mad in the house. He approached t

23. YOU KEEP TEMPTING ME
Amber and Tom rescheduled their visit to the secret house and went on a Saturday. He had picked her up at a designated point and drove her all the way to the house. They maintained an atmosphere of silence in the car throughout the drive and Amber just enjoyed the view of the city she didn’t even know was that beautiful because she was always lost in her own busy world. They went to the house, and he took her to see the paintings he had previously painted and kept in the secret room in the basement. She could not keep her shocked expression to herself as she walked through the room filled with paintings of different sizes, patterns and colors. She slowly trailed her hand around one of the canvases sitting on the painting stand in the middle of the room and mumbled “This was the last one you posted on the page”, as she gazed at it with love and care. “I painted that one the same day I finished it, but I don’t really like the outcome”, he explained from behind, but she cut him short i

24. THE GAME IS ABOUT TO BEGIN
She kept staring at him as she lied on his rock-hard chest while Tom slowly drifted back to sleep. When she came to her senses, she flew up and quickly rushed out of the room back to the studio. She could not understand the feeling that was going on with her body because she was familiar with it, but she knew it shouldn’t be, he’s her boss. It’s not like she hasn’t fallen in love before, so she knew that she was crushing on him right now. She quickly shook her head and slapped her cheeks several times, so she could wake up to reality before puffing out two rounds of air from her tensed lungs. She spent all day catching up with the world of art by reading the books he picked out for her while he was sleeping soundly on the sofa. She was happy to stay in that place because she didn’t want to stay in the same house with Emily, who was always restless and uncomfortable around the house. Although she was enjoying her display of guilty show, she still needed to give herself space because s

25. COLLAPSED
Joseph didn’t apologize for the words he said to Anita when they went to eat out and also refused to eat at home even though she didn’t stop making his food. She decided to call his attention on the third day as he was walking out of the house in the morning. “I have set your food on the table, are you not going to eat again today?”, she asked with her hands in front of her apron, and he scoffed before turning to approach her. “Are you just dense, or you want to keep pretending? I don’t like you! You are just someone after my father’s money, and you want your son to take over a company that he doesn’t even have the right to. I know all that you are planning. Do you want to poison me? To die? Or get bedridden for the rest of my life? I am sorry, but I will never fall for such tricks, so don’t bother to use it on me”, he lashed out at her while she stood there looking at him talking down on her with a speechless expression. He marched to the door before stopping to add “Don’t ever cook

26. TRUE COLORS
Anita had woken up that morning with an extreme pain all over her face. She was having some headaches too, accompanied by a runny nose, but she took a painkiller instead to relieve the pain and planned to visit the doctor when she’s through with her chores for the day in the kitchen. She was the only one at home since the other maid was on vacation and was almost done with her work when Amber came to retrieve the file from Tom’s room. She was led inside by the security and Anita ran to greet her when she entered the house with him. “You are Tom’s secretary, right? Thank you for the other day. I haven’t been able to thank you properly, I am so sorry”, she said with a smile, and Amber returned the warm smile immediately. She moved closer to her and bowed a little, “It was nothing. I am glad that I was able to help out, so you don’t to have to thank me anymore.”, Amber replied and she nodded. “What are you here for?” Anita asked further, and she replied that she was here at Tom’s reque

27. YOU ARE ME
Anita finished her treatment at the hospital and was discharged, but Joseph didn’t show up throughout her stay. She got home and found him playing games with Charles. She greeted him, and he ignored her, but Charles replied by asking how her health was. “I am now fine, thank you for your concerns”, she told him, and left them to their game. Charles cautioned Joseph by telling him not to take his anger out on the poor woman who had fed him and took care of him like her own son ever since she came to their house, but Joseph was not ready for all his preaching. “She’s only acting pitiful, so she can get as much attention as she can. I don’t care about anyone but myself, so spare me the sermon”, he stated sharply before dropping the game’s console that he'd lost interest in the game, while Charles just sighed, he didn’t even know what to tell him anymore. *** The day for the exhibition was fast approaching and both Tom and Amber were preparing as if their lives depended on it, which

28. A NEW WORLD
He stood with her at the airport while going over the things they had previously discussed about his works, inspirations and all other things that pertained to his work and profile. The flight to Paris boarding announcement blasted through the speakers, and she left for her flight after he wished her good luck and thanked her for helping him out. **** Since there was not much work at the company, thanks to Amber, who got everything sorted out before she traveled, he went home early and saw the series of dishes his mother had prepared. He settled on the chair and blurted out “Why are there so many dishes? Are we having a guest?” in confusion and before his mother could reply, Chairman Holland and Joseph appeared at the table. He raised his brow at his younger brother’s presence at the table and questioned, “I thought you said you wouldn’t be eating at home anymore? What are you doing here?” but Joseph only scoffed before settling down. “I don’t think I have to answer that question”,

29. A NAME TO EMBRACE
The dinner ended with Joseph leaving the table, but Tom made sure to stay and finish his food. He was so famished after all, and he wouldn’t let the discussion on the table rob him of his precious food. He went back to his room for the continuation of his office work when he met Joseph rolling on his chair behind the table. He ignored him and opted for the bed instead, before remarking “I don’t think we are close enough to wait for each other in our rooms without permission”, but Joseph scoffed. Standing at his feet and circling the chair before moving to etch his buttocks on the edge of the table for closer communication with Tom, he started to talk about how Tom was never accommodating. “You have always been like this, you were never open to me. You were always anxious about being in the same space with me, and you wouldn’t even spare me a glance. Was I that much of a threat to you?”, he questioned, and Tom cackled before sitting upright. “You? A threat? Why should I see you as a

30. GUILT
Emily didn’t show up at school for days and was not picking up her calls which forced Jessica and Mark to come around looking for her. She was coming from the small mart where she went to restock her beer collection after consuming almost seven cans the previous night. She would have ran away to hide from them but they walked up on her unexpectedly so she didn’t have a choice than to entertain them. Jessica yelled angrily as she sighted her from afar and ran to catch up with her while shouting “Is your phone for decoration? Why are you not picking up our calls? Are you asking for a death wish?” loudly making her scared for a second. On seeing that it was her friends, she just sighed and asked why they were there but that earned her a smack from Jessica and a puzzled look from Mark. “Are you serious right now? Are you asking us why we are here? After ghosting us for days?” Jessica yelled at her and the passersby began to take interest in whatever was going on with them. On seeing the
