50. Doubt
Henrietta It's been almost an hour since Chloe left my room to check if the underground exit was clear. After she left, I shut all the windows and doors of the room and didn't fail to lock them as well. I have had a few knocks on the door and even Gwendolyn was one of those that knocked but I wasn't sure if I could trust her with Richard's safety so I ignored hers as well as that of others. Chloe's knock was peculiar and when she was at the door, I was sure to know as each knock on the door often had a few seconds break before the other. “You still havent told me how you got to know that all of this was going to happen,'' Richard said as he sat on my bed, holding his head in his hand. “Somehow, you kept me safe even before all these, even after I told you the guards were in my room before they came to yours and found nothing.” he muttered, “But magically, somehow, they found it in my room and you knew they would.” he stated, with a voice that sounded like he was about to accuse

Henrietta I gently lowered myself to the floor after they left. It felt like with every step Richard took outside my room, my heart went with him. I felt empty, like I had lost a greater part of me, it was as if my heart left with him. I know I said I severed all ties with him but those were mere words of the mouth, a clear contrast to what my heart yearned to say, my heart yearned to profess its undying love for him and that was undeniable. I love him and no matter how hard I tried to get myself to believe otherwise, to believe that all we had were mere fragments of the mind, infatuations which we mistook to be something real, the more I hurt myself, the more my heart gets torn into shreds and sink over and over again. The more sad I became. “Why!!!” I shouted in anguish, asking no one but nature as though they could answer. “Why do every little ray of hope get taken away from me!” I screamed at the top of my lungs while placing my hands on the floor as I remained on my knees.

Richard Three days! It's been three good days of roaming the woods surrounding Odyssey hiding and running like people in exile. Hungry and tired. Whenever I think about Odyssey, my mind pictured only Henrietta but without the smile that often graced her face. It pictured her face with the sadness and tears that I caused her. If it were left to me, I would have faced the king and spoken of my innocence. Sorcery? Really? Of all the things they were to accuse me of, it had to be that and who and how the goblet got in my room, I do not know because no one had access to my room but me and Henrietta. Would She…? Of course not! She would never! What even made me accuse her of doing so? Anger sure knows how to ruin the best of relationships. "Are we not out of Odyssey yet? I swear coming here was a lot easier than what you put me through." I complained to Chloe, who I noticed had stopped walking and was now looking around as though she was looking for a path. I waited for a few minutes b

53. Charge
Henrietta I was freezing. I never knew these rooms were as cold and unfavorable as this. No wonder everyone dreaded even getting within these walls. The bugs, the ant bites and torturous breeze, but all the while I have spent two days here. Two terrible days of my life, what a way to mark a birthday! I have neither seen Gwendolyn or anyone since the day I was locked here. She is probably being taught the dos and don’ts of the counsel. Father hasn’t been here either, I guess he has forgotten about me already. This is ridiculous!!! Is he really going to keep me here after the entire celebration or what? I held tight onto the iron doors of the dungeon and shook it repeatedly with all my strength, “Get me out of here!!!” I shouted at the top of my lungs but my voice only echoed around me and that was all. “Somebody, anybody!” I yelled and I carried the bench which I was supposed to be sitting on to the door. After making sure it was perfectly placed to carry my weight, I stood on it

Richard Luck! It was tough luck that got us out of that valley of torture and death. I wouldn’t dare look at even a drop of water on the ground because I fear what I would look like if I caught sight of my reflection. I could die of shock from what I might see and from the way Chloe appears, I didn’t think I would look any better, maybe worse as a result of the number of times I almost had an arrow across my neck. Irritated, hungry and stinking, I lay down on the black robe which I tried so hard to keep from getting torn as it belonged to Henrietta. I wanted to cherish it as much as I would my memories of her. I stared at Chloe who folded herself in a ball as she sat beside the fireplace. She hasn’t spoken much since we left the valley and I guess she’s as surprised as I am that we came out alive. She seems lost in thought as she hasn't blinked all the while I watched her stare at the fire. Taking a long breath, I decided to say a few words to her, “How many more days do we have

55. Sorry not sorry
Richard "Nana!" Chloe shouted in excitement as she rushed towards the door of the small house. "Nana!!" She shouted at the top of her lungs as she got to the door and was thrown open by an average robust woman who wore a blue button up dress that flowed loosely around her stomach down to her ankle. "Chloe?" The woman asked, pushing her glasses so they were properly close to her eyes, "Niña, is it really you?" The woman asked in a sad voice but she was rather too excited to be sad even though she was sniffing, "Yes, Nana, it's me." Chloe said in an excited voice as she wrapped her arms around the woman in a warm embrace. "I thought I'd never see you again." The woman cried as she began to pepper kisses all over Chloes' face. I've never seen her blush ever or be as excited as she was right now. It was a beautiful sight, watching the reunion but soon, the woman's eyes traveled to me and she gently tapped Chloe who seemed to have forgotten about me, on the shoulder and made her turn.

56. Separate ways
Henrietta It was already getting very dark in this cell which shows that I have completed yet another day, staying confined to the cell walls. I was close to spending a week in this cell. I haven't set eyes on Gwendolyn nor my father. The last person I had set my eyes on since Gwendolyn was here, is the maid Gregory sent to bring me something to eat and drink. More often than usual, I thought about how possible it could be that Gwendolyn is behind my prolonged stay here but on the other hand, she promised to get me out. I haven't stopped thinking about Richard. His safety out of Odyssey and Chloes' return as well. I was becoming restless and tired of having my heart get so close to my mouth, in fear and hope. Could it be that she was arrested on her way back? Could there be a chance they have been slain by bandits on their way out? These thoughts and more kept on running through my mind. I couldn't take it anymore either. "Help!!" I screamed but my voice only echoed within the

57. Bounty
RichardLeaving Chloes’ Granny's home, is a decision I was so close to regretting because I haven't been able to find my way yet and the sky doesn't look friendly at all. Rumbling sounds of thunder filled my ears and I knew it was just a couple minutes until it started raining and there was no sign of shelter anywhere around here. I was in the middle of nowhere, trying to find my way even though I had no idea what route leads to where. I had to keep walking straight, that way if I lost my way, I'd just turn around and walk back to Chloe. There was a sudden loud noise which sounded like people whispering and footsteps but when I looked around, I couldn't find anything as I was surrounded by nothing but trees, tall trees on every side I turned but I could still hear them. Instantly, I began to walk towards where the sound came strongly, walking carefully so as not to make a noise just in case they were harmful.“A bunch of dried woods and herbs for the physician,” I heard a soft femin

58. Return
Richard “How did you get in here?” Charles asked yet another question as soon as he found me awake , “How are you even alive?” “Ah, you'd have probably done the honours of killing me even before King Kenneth found me,” I retorted but his unusual silence made me speak up fast, “you would, won't you?” I asked and he shrugged "Not that I haven't thought about that but if you asked nicely, I might.” he stated, “besides the bounty placed on your head is so huge a reward that even father would be tempted to hand you over to King Kenneth himself, so who am I?" He asked “That's impossible. What is so huge that would even make father bat a lash in regards to King Kenneth's ordeal!” my voice boomed in the room and Charles turned around to grab a coat from his wardrobe. “How about two of the richest lands by the water bank between Odyssey and us? The very land which father claims belongs to us but has been in King Kenneth's possession for centuries.” He replied in a flat voice before lookin

Henrietta“It's been a whole day and no one has noticed you're out of the dungeon.” Chloe stated, “Is that how deserted down there has become or it only got deserted after you were imprisoned?” She asked all the while I remained in the library with her. “I don't know. I need to go to Richard, especially after someone deserted him on her supposed mission to keep him safe.” I sassed before rolling my eyes at her, “How long do we have until we leave this room, I'm hungry, tired and need to be wit…”“With Richard as soon as I can, I know, I know.” Chloe said, finishing my statement before I could. “We need to wait until nightfall before we leave and we would have to use the front gate, It'd be a lot easier.” She explained and I let out a sigh before holding my jaw in my palm.“We leave tonight.” I said to her and she nodded but there was a sudden whispering outside the door, “I thought you said sounds don't leave the room or come in?” I asked chloe as the voices became a lot more audibl
