Chapter 21 – Before Signing the Contract
“So, what if I agree to help you grasp the script? Would you still refuse the offer?” Zora thought about the question thoroughly. This was going to stretch her as she never had a passion for acting but just decided to try it out because Coco proposed it.Suddenly landing a major role? What if she messed up the production? As the perfectionist she was, that would kill her.“No,” she replied over the phone. Everyone around was disappointed as they felt that she was the only deserving person there was. She saved Bianca and her audition was great.Bianca mused over the situation, took a deep breath before saying, “there is always a first time for everything. What if you go with the minor role and realize that you are even better than the one who took up the lead role? Trust me, you would regret it for the rest of your life.”Zora thought once more about her revenge plan. What if something goes wrong with her contract with Mr. Newman and she ends up on the losing side? At this moment, she

Chapter 22 – I know how to tame wild chicks.
What Zora did not expect was for the man to project something from his phone. On the wall in front of her, there was a comatose man in a luxurious room, on a luxurious bed. There was a nanny attending to him, making her understand that he was watching through the CCTV cameras in his house.Zora was uneasy. “There is a camera in his bedroom? I want to have a separate room and also bring my friend along,” she placed her demand.Mr. Newman was slightly uncomfortable since there wasn’t going to be anything intimate. His reason for keeping the camera there was solely up to him.To not ruin the contract, he said, “The cameras were only installed there because he was single. If you sign the papers, it would be deactivated. As for your friend, we can make the arrangement.”Zora trusted him and therefore fished for a pen in her handbag, resisted a little, but signed the contract in the end. Then, she took a copy and gave one to Mr. Ne

Chapter 23 – Putting things in perspective
“Mistress, it's dinner time and the table is set,” a maid said politely to Zora, who frowned a little. She had just come out of the shower, wearing loose, silky pants and pajamas. They were neither transparent nor tight. Due to the summer heat, she left her hair loose, opting not to use the dryer. Even in a loveless marriage, she was addressed as madam and mistress was inappropriate in a comatose marriage. Not hesitating, and as a woman who once managed a home, she corrected the maid. “Call me Madam. I’m not a mistress but Sebastian’s wife.” The maid was reluctant, as the nanny had instructed them in the kitchen not to address the woman as Madam, and also specified that Sebastian would send Michelle out of the house as soon as he woke up. She, who once wanted Sebastian dead, now wanted him to live just so he could kick Michelle out of the mansion. Since she was married to Sebastian by Mr. Newman, she couldn't be easily gotten rid of or manipulated. The nanny felt threatened by Mic

Chapter 24 - What happened to her?
“Michelle, or whatever your name is, don’t you think you are stepping out of line?” Amir was cold and condescending, underestimating Michelle and feeling it was time to put her in her place. Michelle remained unfazed, knowing that Amir was powerless. “I think I need a pair of glasses because I don’t see a line drawn,” she said sarcastically. Coco and the maids giggled, and even though Amir glared at them, the maids put on serious expressions while Coco remained indifferent. “Feel free to be sarcastic, but stay away from the nanny’s affairs. I have decided that she joins us for dinner every night, and that is final,” Amir slammed his hand on the table in anger, causing Coco, the nanny, and the maids to panic. Zora, unfazed, spoke leisurely, “Really? Alright. As Sebastian’s wife and co-owner of this house, I declare that all maids and domestic workers join the dining table.” Amir glared at the maids, causing them to shiver. One of them spoke up, “But Madam, there isn’t enough food to

Chapter 25 - I Miss My Wife
“Piper? What happened to her?” Ezrah asked worriedly from the other end of the line. He must have broken things off with Piper, but he still cared for her. She was his first love, and despite her constant disobedience, she never truly offended him.“I don’t know all the details, but I heard it was a suicide attempt. Her mother found her unconscious in the jacuzzi in a pool of blood. She had been feeling depressed lately, and we thought she would get over it. We never expected her to slit her fingers and await death.”Ezrah closed his eyes in deep thought. Why did all the women in his life resort to death as an escape from him? At least Piper was still alive. “Which hospital is she in?”There was a brief pause on the line before Mr. Henshaw replied. “You don’t have to come. It's a four-hour drive. I'll just check on her and arrange another day for the meeting,” he said sternly.Though he wanted Ezrah and Piper to get married, Piper’s obsession was out of hand, and he didn’t want to enc

Chapter 26 - Water
"Are you sure about what you are saying? After administering the antidote, our contract ends. I no longer want to be involved in this," the doctor said sternly. For the few times he went for his routine weekly checks on Sebastian, he didn't like Michelle's scrutiny of all that he was doing, questioning his skills as a doctor. As soon as he mentioned something, Michelle would G****e it to find out what it was and what it does if she was new to it. Worse, she insisted on being there throughout all the doctor's visits, which made him very uncomfortable. "Are you going to resign from your job?" Amir asked with a confused expression, taking the words out of the nanny's mouth. The doctor was honest, afraid of being nipped in the bud. "Yes. Your cousin's wife asks too many questions. I'm afraid she doesn't trust me. But as for the antidote, since my next check on him is in a few days, I can administer it to him." Amir was slightly relieved. They wanted Sebastian dead before, but with Mich

Chapter 27 – His sunshine
The voice sounded hoarse, most probably due to lying in bed for months. Zora was excited, knowing that Mr. Newman would be very happy with the news. “You are awake!” The sleep cleared from her eyes, and she immediately went to get the water but realized he couldn’t move. Even with that, his tongue was sharp. “Who are you? What are you doing here? Why am I here? And why can’t I move?” He was throwing the questions continuously like a tennis ball. Zora was overwhelmed, not knowing which to answer first. The contract had been going smoothly, and though she didn’t want Sebastian to wake up in the beginning, her worry for his father made her want him to get better. The fact that they didn’t even know each other ruled out the possibility of them being a real couple. All she felt for him was sympathy. “Drink the water first.” Zora gently fed him the water, and as soon as he had enough, she dialed Mr. Newman’s number. “Dad, Sebastian is awake.” Sebastian had mixed feelings when he hear

Chapter 28 – Unexpected Help
Mr. Newman noticed the change in her expression and beckoned her to the luxury chair in front of him. “You have paled. Are you alright? Have you eaten? Here, drink some water.” He offered her a glass of water. Zora did not refuse his kind gesture and drank the water. Taking note of the empty drinking glass, Mr. Newman guessed she was hiding something. “Do you know her? Your reaction is suspicious,” he said honestly. Zora pursed her lips, forcing herself to breathe down her anger. “Yes, but I can’t tell you the details.” Mr. Newman smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes as he spoke to her with the same honesty he began with. “I opened my doors to you and told you everything about my family. I might not be your real family, but I see you as a daughter. It’s okay if you want to keep it in.” Zora felt guilty upon listeni

Confusion brewed in Zora’s father's mind at the other end of the line. There was no mention of any new contract, leading him to suspect that Ezrah might be finding ways to secure that partnership with him. As he had promised his daughter, he would never accept help from Ezrah or the Gannons, even if the company were to crumble like sand. “Does he have an appointment?” he asked seriously. The secretary sighed and replied, “No, but he mentioned that he traveled for over five hours just for this business and that your wife would be interested. You won’t want to miss it.” This behavior was not typical of Ezrah. Mr. Adams thought it fair to see and hear what this man had to say. “Send him in,” he instructed. It wasn’t long before an unfamiliar figure entered his office as the door swung open. “Hi, my name is Sander Newman, and I believe you are Zora’s father. Where is her mother?” Mr. Newman, tall and middle-aged, stood with his glasses, looking strong and attractive, much like Zora’s f

Chapter 30 - Dad, I want a divorce
“Am I right to say that you have become ruthless?” her father asked, feeling helpless. Zora did not care what name it was. Her innocent child could not die in vain. Someone had to pay, and that person was living her normal life while she, Zora, was still grieving the loss of her child. Was that being ruthless? She asked seriously, “Dad, what would you do if someone plans an accident that takes my life?” When her father thought about the question, knowing it was his grandchild who lost her life in the accident, he couldn’t pretend to be an angel. “I would be more ruthless.” “Then please don’t blame me,” Zora said from the end of the line. Whereas her father feared she might regret it later, looking back at how mindlessly she loved Ezrah before. “Are you sure that you don’t feel anything for Ezrah anymore?” Zora smiled bitterly from the end of the line. It was the reason she faked her death. If she hadn’t, she knew that Ezrah would have always been in her face. But taking on a new
