Alaric's voice sounded surprised, and it made my cheeks warm.

"Yeah... I always recover quickly." I smiled shyly. "I never get sick or injured... It must be some genetic thing."

"Interesting..." he murmured. "You're very different from the humans I've known, Violet."

Alaric looked back at his clipboard and sighed. His hand passed over his neck, and a nervous laugh escaped his lips.

"There's something that makes me question if you're really human." His nervousness was apparent. "But I'll need to investigate, and here I don't have the necessary resources."

I sat on the examination table, and my skin tingled as I felt Alaric's cold stethoscope on my chest.

"I don't understand... I'm just a regular person." I said, watching him jot something down on his clipboard.
