Chapter 12 Unreasonable

She hadn't expected Jonathan, who usually cared for her and doted on her in every possible way, to lose his temper with her to such an extent. "You don’t love me anymore. You're in love with another woman. Why are you yelling at me?" Monica started to cry like a baby.

Jonathan grabbed the magazine on the table and threw it straight at Monica’s head. If he was capable of cherishing this woman, he could also immediately get her out of his life. He only wanted an obedient woman, not one who would always oppose him and be a nuisance. If he could design a special wedding dress for her, he could also make another woman wear the same wedding dress. He could do whatever he wanted.

Jonathan didn’t have a one and only, and Monica was certainly not such a person for him. "You ceased to be a part of my life the moment you didn’t show up in my fashion show."

"Wait…are you kidding me, Jonathan? Please don’t…" She knew he was serious about this, but she didn’t want to accept it. "I know it’s my fault for not showing up, but how could you be so affectionate with the secretary? Did you even love me at all?" She sobbed in pain and rushed toward Jonathan to hug him, refusing to let go.

She hadn't shown up at the fashion show because she had seen Jonathan’s affectionate behavior toward his secretary in this very office with her own eyes two days ago.

As Jonathan’s girlfriend, how could she pretend as if everything was alright after seeing something like that? How could she still help him with his fashion show the next day? Besides, Monica didn’t know that Jonathan was going to give her such a big surprise and personally design that wedding dress, Dusk Skyline, for her. It was too late for her to regret it now.

"Please don’t be so cold to me. I just have a short fuse, but that’s because I love you…"

"Fredrick!" Jonathan yelled at the door and coldly pushed Monica away.

"Yes, Mr. Leonard?" Fredrick had been waiting outside because he knew Jonathan, and at a time like this, he knew he would be needed sooner or later.

"Send off our guest." Although Jonathan had only uttered four words, Frederick could no longer hear the tenderness Jonathan usually had with Monica. Only coldness and ruthlessness remained.

"Uh…You should leave for now, Miss Winters." Monica gave Fredrick a cold look, then left sadly.

"When will Mr. Locke arrive at the hotel?" Jonathan asked casually as he sorted out the documents in front of him.

"He called just now to say that he's already arrived," Fredrick answered immediately, proving his efficiency.

"Where’s the evidence? Do you have everything ready?" Jonathan looked up at him suddenly, his eyes full of questions.

"Uh…I’ll prepare them right away." Originally, Fredrick had hoped to receive some credit for his efforts, but Jonathan’s words made him feel incompetent instead.

At the Langston mansion.

"Who are you? How can you barge in here so casually? Don’t you know that this is the governor's house?" Mr. Murphy, the butler, opened the door to be greeted by the sight of a little boy running into the mansion without saying a word. Lucas looked around at every single inch of the place, and although it wasn’t too luxurious, he became increasingly curious. After all, it was his first time in his grandfather’s house.

"Who is it, Mr. Murphy?" A sharp female voice came from inside the mansion. For a moment, Lucas got excited and was about to rush in when he bumped into a middle-aged woman.

"Ow…" Kate Somerset held her stomach and yelled in pain. "Who is this brat?"

Kate's first words had already given Lucas a bad impression; he felt disgusted.

Judging by the woman’s appearance and her tone when she asked who it was, she must be the mistress of the house. So, was she the one who'd ruined the relationship between his mommy and Grandpa?
