Chapter Five

CHAPTER FIVE

Mr. Williams paced  around the large living room like a caged tiger, his face was red and tight in fury.

The news he had seen circling around the internet had been unpleasant.

He stopped pacing the moment the door pushed open and Rachael entered . 

Rachael knew something was wrong the moment she stepped inside , her mother was nowhere to be seen , it was just her father who wore an irritated look as though his flesh was been eaten by ants.

"You shameless fool! you decided to step your feet into this house !" Her father bellowed at the top of his voice.

Rachael could only guess what could possibly make her father so angry .

it surely had something to do with what had transpired between she and Caleb.

"You must go and apologies to him ! you insulted him publicly, what if he decides not to marry you because you upsetted him! " My William exploded , he looked ready to burst from all the anger coursing through him.

"But what did I even do wrong! why is this marriage so important to you " Racheal cried .

Why couldn't her father for once care if she was upset or not .

A harsh slap swung across her face was the response she got.

even though she was half expecting it , a gasp of pain still escaped her mouth.

 Racheals father narrowed his eyes at Racheal. He gripped her chin in a painful grip and spat out in low and dangerous voice. You seem to have grown a spine, don't forget that I'm your father !"

"You won't step another foot in this house if I don't personally hear him saying that he forgives you ! " Mr William's pointed a raised finger at her ..

Her mother appeared at that moment but Racheal knew she wouldn't provide much help once her father has made a decision.

" It could be very dangerous for a woman to go out alone this late at night."

However such thing didn't concern Mr William. He only cared about making sure that the marriage succeeds , other things were none of his concerns.

 He hoved her out the door despite her mother's pleads ...

The rain was falling heavily outside , in no time her clothes was soaked, her teeth was chattering from the cold . 

But her heart hurt ten times more than whatever pain she could possibly receive.

why was she in this situation? this was not the first time she regretted being born.

Racheal was exposed to the heavy downpour outside. She was standing in the rain below the balcony, the cold droplets had already drenched her thin dress completely by then, she was already frail and looked increasingly  pitiful as she persevere in the rain. She developed a high fever for standing in the rain. 

she fought back tears of frustration , no matter what, she would never apologize to Caleb ! 

Her legs suddenly gave way as she suddenly slipped into unconsciousness.

Caleb Sterling's eyes were set ahead , he appeared to be deep in thoughts , but 

none around him could tell what he might actually thinking about ..

The news of Caleb pushing Rachael at Flower's restaurant had spread over the media , some had blamed him for laying his hands on a woman and soon to be fiance at that , others had applauded him for defending the woman they assumed to be the love of his life.

He could care less about the public but it was beginning to the business, the shareholders were beginning to murmur.

A man who doesn't even value relationship , how can I entrust him with our company's safety !  

The old chairman needs to answer about this !

even though they hadn't said this to his face , their tongues were still wagging.

Mr Williams cleared his throat and the murmurings died down . He made his way over to Caleb , his presentation In his hands 

" Take a look at my presentation, it will be quite profitable to both companies if we work on this construction project together". Mr William spoke , seeming not to care that his daughter was center of ridicule for the others . 

Caleb straightened to his feet and left the meeting room without giving the older man any face.

Mr William flushed bright red in embarrassment, all this must be due to the fact that his foolish daughter had upsetted him.

"Mr Sterling  " He called out , hurrying after him .

Caleb didn't stop , Mr William had to hurry to catch up with him.

"You didn't say anything during the meeting "

"I didn't like your proposal " Caleb cuts in sharply.

Mr William was taken aback speechlessly by Caleb's blunt response .

He covered it up with laughter.

"We are going to be relatives soon, don't you think you should give me a little face..."

"Are you done?" 

Without waiting for a response , Caleb left , leaving William to stare after him.

Caleb was rejecting his proposal ! it could only be because of his useless daughter !

he thought angrily and stormed off.
