Chapter one

CHAPTER ONE.

"Dad please, I don't want to get married! don't let me get married." 

A harsh slap struck at her face made Rachael lose her balance and tumbled to the floored tiles, the blood dripped from a cut on her lips as she stared at the man she called father.

"Stupid girl! what do you know? I'm marrying you off because that's the only purpose of women like you, you are nothing without a husband by your side! ” Mr. William spat at his daughter, his face red with fury.

Mr. William James was a renowned businessman who has worked to build up his company for most of his life, he was middle aged, the edge of his hair grey. he would have looked handsome for a man his age if not for the ugly expression that crawled across his features.

Rachael stared pleadingly at her mother who had been staring and watching silently this whole time.

As usual, her mother was quiet, she had never questioned her husband's decision.

"Why do I have such an unfilial daughter like you? Your marriage to the son of the chairman of SAN Corporation will bring benefits to both families ."

Racheal froze where she fell on the ground, she was getting married to Caleb Sterling? her gaze widened in fear as even more tears fell from her eyes.

Her father couldn't be this cruel to her, it was a well-known fact that Caleb Sterling was a hard man to deal with, handsome and dashing but with the heart of a devil.

she had never come across him physically, but she had heard rumors of his ruthlessness and cruel heart.

Her mother turned her gaze away and silent tears escaped Rachael's eyes, her heart was laced with grief, it was done for her, no one was going to help her.

"The family is coming over to see you, you better not disgrace yourself before them, or I will kill you !" Her father spoke angrily and stormed out of the room.

still, on her knees, Rachael crawled to her mother, her palms in a pleading position.

"Mom, please talk to dad, I still want to go to university, I'm only eighteen, I don't want to marry " she sobbed continuously.

Amelia leaned down to wipe off the tears from her daughter's cheeks,  this was the fate of every female-born child in the family. she would find a way to make her daughter understand. 

"please my daughter, try to understand, you know fully well that am not in support of what your dad is doing. but this is his decision, I have no say "

Rachael's shoulders slumped, her mother had always been a weak soft-spoken woman, but she had thought she at least loved and cared about her.

why was she abandoning her to her dad's decision?

Why were they doing this to her? why was her dad treating her so cruelly, he had never cared about her, but she had never thought that he would give her away to satisfy his business need.
