Chapter 1: He Has a Mistress

In the suburbs of City A, at the entrance of an upscale villa, a young girl stood with an expectant look, gazing in the direction of the road. A smile occasionally graced her face as she thought about the person she was about to meet. There was even a rosy blush of happiness on her cheeks.

As she pondered these thoughts, she heard the sound of a car approaching, and a luxurious car came to a stop right in front of her.

The man who emerged from the car, even in the darkness, couldn't conceal his aura of nobility and striking handsomeness. He was not the person she had been longing for. Who could it be?

"Edwin," the young girl softly called out.

Edwin paused and walked toward the young girl, his brows slightly furrowing. "Why are you standing at the gate again?" He then turned to instruct the driver to go ahead. The vehicle quickly disappeared from the villa entrance.

"I missed you, and I wanted to wait for you here," the young girl said, biting her lip.

For a long while, Edwin remained silent. The young girl, feeling anxious, raised her head to look at him. When she saw that Edwin wasn't angry, she breathed a sigh of relief, reached out to encircle Edwin's waist, rested her head against his chest, then raised her head again. In a sweet voice, she said, "Edwin, I love you."

She tiptoed and swiftly kissed Edwin's lips, then lowered her head, burying her entire cheek in Edwin's embrace.

Edwin gently stroked the girl's hair. His sharp features revealed no clear emotion, whether tenderness or otherwise. "Alright, let's go inside," he said, as he held the girl's waist, and the two of them walked toward the villa.

Their figures disappeared from view, and not far away under a plane tree, a black car seemed to blend into the night, unnoticed by anyone.

Jenny glanced at Cecily, who sat quietly beside her, and voiced her concern, "Cecily, are you okay?"

Cecily looked at her with a vacant expression, shook her head, forced a smile, her throat dry and even slightly painful. "I'm okay. How long have you known about this?"

She was not okay. How could she possibly be okay? That feeling, as if her heart had been stabbed deeply, how could she be okay?

Edwin, he was her husband, her belief, the one she had loved for so many years, and waited for so long. It was not possible for her to be okay after witnessing such a scene.

The numbness in the palm of her right hand, caused by her own fingernails, paled in comparison to the stabbing pain she felt in her heart when she saw that moment.

Jenny watched her with sympathy, biting her lip before speaking, "A few days ago, my cousin brought this girl to the hospital, and I was the one who attended to her." She gently caressed Cecily's hand, which felt cool to the touch. "Cecily."

Cecily closed her eyes briefly. "Is she pregnant?"

She didn't know how she managed to voice that question. It felt like vines with thorns were constricting and suffocating her heart bit by bit.

In reality, there was no need to ask that question. Jenny was an obstetrician and gynecologist. What else could be wrong with the girl?

Jenny remained silent for a while before finally nodding. Cecily asked again, "What about Edwin? Did he ask you not to tell me about this?"

Jenny shook her head but continued to remain silent. She held Cecily's hand even more tightly. She wanted to offer words of comfort, but she found herself unable to. Growing up with Cecily, she understood her better than anyone else. This was too cruel for her.

"Alright, let's go," Cecily said as a sharp, sour pain stung at the corners of her eyes. She quickly closed them, leaning back. In her mind, countless memories of her time with Edwin flashed by. However, the more she thought, the more the pain in her heart became unbearable.

So, someone was carrying his child. He didn't even want to keep it a secret from his wife. He didn't care whether she found out or not. He had reached a point where he had neglected himself to such an extent. The pain in the palm of her right hand didn't seem as prominent anymore, as if it had been overshadowed by the pain in her heart.

Jenny watched her with worry, feeling that Cecily in this state was not good at all, in fact, it was downright terrible. She began to doubt whether she should have told Cecily about this in the first place or brought her here. But she knew that by doing so, the pain she would endure in the future would be even greater. After a while, they finally left.
