Chapter 62

VIOLET

I wake up when the rays of bright sun heat up my face, making me feel like I am being barbecued.

My whole body is burning up, my eyes feel heavy just like my head. I try to open my eyes, but the dried blood is acting like glue and it’s nearly impossible to see anything.

I lift my right hand and touch my cheek. It’s double the normal size which means it’s swollen.

I bring down my hand and close my eyes again. All my movement ceases like I am a robot instead of a — I don’t know what to call myself. Not human, not witch, not werewolf, not a mere Oracle.

Let’s just say I am somewhere in between all of them. Period.

the exact lesson was that Cassius had to teach her fighting skills. he didn't do that. at. all. she did everything on her own AND it was, in all fairness, not fighting. it only confirms to Violet that he hates her enough to not care if she dies.

Agree. It seems very reckless. If it’s essential that she can’t die, this doesn’t seem well thought out.
