14)Privateer
Shane stood in court in England. He had a private audience with his majesty. He made up a story, telling him that all the sunken ships had been Pierre. Pierre was a french pirate living on Spanish ruled island. The French and The Spanish King were in the room that Shane was waiting to enter. He wanted permission to bring him in and deal with him as a privateer would. After about two hours, the doors open and a man told him to come in. He entered and bowed before the three kings. The French king spoke first.
"This Pierre is not under my protection and France will not help him in any way. He sunk my nephew's ship with my nephew on it. He is dead to us already, monsieur."
Shane nodded his head to him and waited for the others to speak. The Spanish king spoke next.
"Cuba is our territory. Because of this, two of my naval ships will follow you to seize the island and help you capture this Pierre."
"Thank you, your majesty."

In the days that followed Pierre's death, everyone walked cautiously around Kiera. Shane was always at her side and even he was uneasy. Kiera was but a shadow of herself since she killed Pierre in such a gruesome manner. Marvin was walking out front when he saw her disappear into the jungle. He followed her all the way to Diana's cave. The old woman was waiting for her and embraced her like she was a child needing comfort. Once they went inside, Marvin began to creep up on the entrance but was stopped by Shane. "The witch already knows we are here. A woman chained and blindfolded. He heard her breathing quicken with freight as he approached. He saw her hold her breath as bent in front of her. She winced at his touch and when he removed the blindfold, he saw nothing but fear in the blue eyes that stared back. He took out her gag and unchained her. He looked around and squinted, trying to see one of the ships. A large crate drifted their way and grabbed ahold of it. He helped her onto it and then climbed on it himself. They held onto each other to keep from being blown off and they drifted for some time as they waited for the storm to stop. She shielded her eyes as the sun shined brightly through as the storm has passed. He nudged her and pointed and in the distance, she saw an island and perked up. He held her steady and they floated to the island. Once they got close enough, they swam to the beach and just laid there. Shane stared at her and then he remembered that she planned on killing him earlier. Granted, she could have killed him while he was out, but he still had to know. Shane awoke the next morning with the sun hitting his face and feeling more rested than he had a very long time. As he went to stretch, he felt a body next to him and froze. Slowly, he looked rolled and looked over, and saw Kiera. He smiled as the events of yesterday and the last few weeks all came back to him. His smile widened as he looked down and saw that his bandage had been changed again. Careful not to wake her. he crawled out and slipped his pants back and ventured out to find where she got her water source from. He laughed as he found himself hoping it wasn't too far from her and realized he hadn't felt more content in all his life and it was all because he went looking for a ghost and found her in the middle of a hurricane. After about forty minutes of walking, he found the stream and shook his head and wondered how he hadnt come across it before. He knelt down to the stream and cupped his hands and took a drink.
