15) After

In the days that followed Pierre's death, everyone walked cautiously around Kiera. Shane was always at her side and even he was uneasy. Kiera was but a shadow of herself since she killed Pierre in such a gruesome manner. Marvin was walking out front when he saw her disappear into the jungle. He followed her all the way to Diana's cave. The old woman was waiting for her and embraced her like she was a child needing comfort. Once they went inside, Marvin began to creep up on the entrance but was stopped by Shane.

"The witch already knows we are here. If we get within hearing of the cave, she'll send out one of her beasts to get rid of us."

"You spy on her?"

"Yes. I had to know how she was dealing with it."

"And?"

"Kevin."

"Kevin?"

"There is strong magic inside that cave."

They watched and tried to listen. A few minutes later, they could hear her crying and they could hear what sounded like Kevin yelling at Diana. Kiera was trying to defend her, but it seemed with no luck.

Inside
