Chapter 2

Evelyn's beautiful face was filled with shock, and her gaze was complicated. Her unhappy marriage had always been a thorn in her heart. Was it over now, just like that? Had all her dreams come true?

If that useless man finally left her, she could find a better, richer husband. So why was she not as happy as she had imagined she would be?

Howard, her father, looked up in confusion. "Something's wrong with that kid. He really left, just like that? Is he really not coming back?"

Lana's expression was stormy. "Even better! I've always disliked that wimp. Evelyn, divorce that dog right now and find a richer, more powerful family! Any man on the streets would be a hundred times better than Rinz. I mean, look at all your friends and classmates! They're nowhere near as beautiful as you, but they found better husbands!"

"Alright, that's enough! You're annoying." Evelyn did not appreciate her mother's nagging. She quickly returned to her room and slammed the door shut.

"That wretched girl, what's with her attitude? I'm doing this for her own good! How could she call me annoying? It's all her fault. If she had married into a rich family, we'd be rolling in dough by now. We wouldn't be living in this rundown house! That Rinz is absolutely useless!" Lana ranted.

By then, Elio had already walked out of the building. He took out his phone and dialed the number that had been buried in his heart for ten years. He said calmly, "Mom, send someone to pick me up."

A familiar and gentle voice came from the other side. "Where are you, my boy? I want to see you as soon as possible."

Elio hailed a cab and arrived at Fortune Square half an hour later.

A helicopter slowly descended onto the plaza, causing a minor commotion among the onlookers.

"Where did that helicopter come from? It's going to land on the square."

"It's probably some filthy rich guy. Pfft, the one percent has graduated from luxury cars these days. They're taking straight to the skies!"

As the multimillion-dollar helicopter steadily touched down, a man in black jumped out of the cockpit.

As everyone watched, Elio greeted the man, got into the helicopter, and left the plaza elegantly.

The gathering crowd erupted.

"Damn, that kid is probably some super-rich second-generation heir. That was super cool! Urgh, I don't even want to compare!"

"He's definitely part of the dream of the crop. I don't even think he's from Cloudsea City. I've never heard of one of our wealthy families buying a helicopter."

A stylish young woman said dreamily, "I wonder which family he's from. If only I had a boyfriend like him!"

The others looked down on her. What a love-struck idiot. She should look in the mirror! A man that rich would have supermodels as his girlfriends — yes, plural!

As the helicopter flew over Cloudsea, Elio stared out the window at the blue sky and white clouds. He looked down at the city below and felt as if the world was at his feet.

He was about to return to his previous life of luxury. He was going to inherit a business empire worth billions. Logically speaking, he should be ecstatic, but he was not happy in the slightest. A flawlessly beautiful face kept flashing in his mind. It was his wife, Evelyn!

Uncle Shaw, the man in the passenger seat, turned around and smiled. "Welcome back, Master Elio!"

Elio forced a smile. "It's been a while, Uncle Shaw."

Hundreds of miles away from Cloudsea, there was a natural lake called Mirror Lake. It was huge, like a pearl embedded in the ground, with scenery as beautiful as a painting.

There was an island in the middle of the lake, and on top of the island was a majestic palace called Garuda Estate. It was said that the entire lake, as well as the island and the palace, were privately owned by an extremely secretive tycoon. The place was like a paradise.

The helicopter landed right outside Garuda Estate. Many well-known figures from the surrounding cities had already gathered on the grassy clearing. All of them were elites in their industries. The men were dressed in suits and leather shoes, while the women wore smart suits and dresses. They were all in formal attire.

The moment Elio stepped out of the cabin, everyone bowed and said in unison, "Welcome back, Master!"
