Chapter 1

"Elio, come here and pour away this dirty water!"

A beautiful woman with a curvaceous figure was sitting on the sofa. Her long black hair was draped over her shoulders. She had just finished soaking her feet and was applying lotion on her fair thighs. She was Elio Rinz's wife, Evelyn Jones.

Elio, who had just finished washing the dishes in the kitchen, hurried out. He wiped his hands on his apron and carried away his wife's dirty water. He did not dare to slacken for even an instant. After all, as a live-in son-in-law, he was used to being ordered around by his in-laws.

Right now, Evelyn looked like a mermaid who had just emerged from a spring. Elio gulped and asked, "Honey, we've been married for three years now. When are we going to try for a child?"

Evelyn turned to look at him. Her breathtakingly beautiful face was cold. There was a sense of distance about her that kept others at bay. "Are you high or something? How dare you ask such a thing?"

Her cold gaze made Elio panic. He said weakly, "But we're married, after all. Having a child might strengthen our relationship."

"What a joke. Are you even worthy of being my husband?" Evelyn mocked him, her eyes filled with disdain.

His mother-in-law, Lana Faust, stepped out of her bedroom. Having overheard their conversation, she jabbed a finger at Elio and derided him, "Pfft, just look at yourself! You're a good-for-nothing lout. Why, you're even worse than a dog! And now you want to have children with my daughter? You don't even deserve to dream of something like that!"

"That's enough! It's been three years since I married into this family. When have you ever treated me like a decent human being? I've suffered all kinds of humiliation. Even if I walk on eggshells every day and carefully serve your entire family hand and foot, you never acknowledged me even once! Everyone in Cloudsea knows my situation. I've had enough!" Elio roared angrily, his voice deafening.

His in-laws were stunned. Had he lost his mind? He usually just kept his head down while the entire family walked all over him. What was wrong with him today? His mother-in-law had barely even insulted him before he completely exploded.

Evelyn frowned. "Are you crazy? Or do you feel wronged? If Grandma hadn't insisted that I marry you, how could a useless piece of trash like you marry me? Dream on. I'm the victim here, okay?"

Her younger sister, Sheila Jones, said disdainfully, "Elio, are you throwing a tantrum? You do realize that you've been relying on us to keep a roof over your head, right? If you're that mad, just leave this family. I reckon you'll starve on the streets within days. Hmph, no one will collect your rotting corpse then."

"We'll see. Since you're looking down on me now, I'll make sure you grovel at my feet one day!" Elio held his head high and straightened his back, full of confidence.

Even after three years of marriage, he had no standing in the family at all. He had never even laid a finger on his wife!

Fortunately, Elio had carefully calculated the date. His ten years of training were finally over today. His family's restrictions were gone!

He no longer had to endure this humiliation anymore. It was time for him to make a comeback!

Just then, however, Lana slapped him hard. She ranted, "How dare you say such arrogant things, you useless piece of trash? You've been freeloading off of us for three whole years, and you still think you're in the right? That's right, you're even worse than a pig or a dog. I can't stand to see your face. If you have the guts, get out of my sight immediately. Don't let me see you again from now on! Get away from here as fast as you can!"

There was a bright red handprint on Elio's face, and it stung with pain! Elio was furious, his eyes gleaming with hatred. He clenched his fists until his joints turned white. How he wished he could punch that hag in the face and kick her in the stomach!

Still, at the end of the day, Lana was still his mother-in-law. The last vestiges of his rationality held him back. She was Evelyn's mother, after all. If he hurt her, he would be living up to all of their insults!

"Thanks for that slap. With that, I consider us even. I don't owe your family anything anymore." Glaring at his mother-in-law, Elio turned around and slammed the door behind him.

The Joneses looked at each other. That lowly dog had actually left! What had happened to his usual meek self?
