Chapter 4

Christopher was not expecting me to come off as rude or cold as I did and I can tell by the look on his face he was quick to masks which changed his whole demeanor.

After a few moments of standing on the busy sidewalk not saying a word to each other only a few blocks from the always loud and crowded Pioneer Squire I clear my throat and ask "How about we grab some lunch and start over" It’s the least I can do after being so rude to him when I should of just been mature about the whole name situation.

"Um sure why” Chris shrugs his shoulder then start to walk off in the opposite direction “But I pick the place" he send me a playful smile showing off his perfect white teeth and two dimples.

"Sure I can live with that" nudging his shoulder a bit with my own once I catch up to his wide strides we start the walk making small conversation as we go.

We come to a stop outside of a restaurant I've passed a few times but never tried. Standing on the sidewalk looking in I’m not sure if now is the right time to be bold and try something new.

I remind myself that I did tell him I could live with what ever he wanted so I'm going to have to just suck it up and try something new.

Chris grabs my hand wrapping his figures with my own feeling me with nerves, warmth and butterflies.

Still holding my head tight in his own he walks us into the small but cute restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and plenty of places to sit.

Finding a place to sit in a downtown restaurant is something because its almost impossible to find, there always packed or have lines that go around the block if its a place worthy of eating at or you have take your food to go and find a bench to sit and eat your food at.

I find a small table for two in the corner looking out onto the hustle and bustle of the busy street while Chris orders our food, again I let him choose since I've never been here.

A short five minute wait later Chris comes over with our food and I'm instantly hit by the delicious smell of cuscus, fresh veggies with some kind of noodle and blue cheese. The food that he set in front of me looks and smells amazing and I have to say he has good taste in food.

Time gets away from us as we sit and eat, joking and laughing over a game he used to play with his sister as they were growing up. The object of the game was to pick a random person of the street and make then talk in some funny voice or make up a story about the person, boy was it fun I had never laughed so hard or had this much fun with one person in a very long time.

As we talked I found out that he was the oldest of four and that his little sisters name was Veronica she had been missing for a little over three years now and just up and vanished one night as she was walking home from a friends house.

Chris has been out looking for her for the last three years with out very much help from the police, he said that every time he asked about the case or asks to speck with the Detective who’s working it he gets the run around and is told that the detectives not available.

I feel so bad that he is going through this alone due to his other two sisters not wanting to help look for her according to Chris his other two sisters moved away a few weeks after Veronica went missing and he hasn't heard from then since.

I remember when it was Tommy who I thought had gone missing and all the crap the police asked me. It was hard to go through so I can understand where he’s coming from and what he’s going through in some small way.

“Shit I'm so sorry I have to get back to the office” Chris apologizes after his phone vibrates on the table.

“Yeah no its fine I'm sure Sofia is ready to loose her mind because I'm not back yet she is one girl who is dangerous when it comes to food” I stand grabbing my bag and check to make sure I have everything then we walk out of the restaurant.

Chris being the gentleman he is walked me back to work and promised to text me later to set up a time for dinner, to say I was smitten and falling for his charm was the complete truth.

Chris had this air about him that made anyone he talked to feel at ease and I felt myself luck to have meet him even if it had only been our second encounter.

“What the hell took you so long I’m starving” Sofia harps as soon as I walk back into the shop.

“Sorry time slip passed me” with a small shrug and a smile plastered on my face I get back to work.
