A Leech

Anna’s POV

Three days after Emily was released, we had an august visitor. I was not expecting him at all. It was Sam, my father. He looked quite unstable but I did not know the reason behind his facial expression. I was informed by one of our maids and I had to step out. Smith was not at home at the moment. He had left for his office early that morning.

After the pleasantries, I offered him a cup of water which he drank like he had been thirsty for years. This was enough to tell me that there was more to his visit.

“I need your help, Anna,” he told me after he had settled down. This sounded urgent and instantly, I dropped my phone and concentrated on him. I was ready to give him a listening ear.

“Go ahead, father,” I replied. Sam took a deep breath before he talked. Perhaps, a chunk of flesh was blocking his throat. Recently, I lost concentration easily and I loved to go straight to the point to save time.
