Dan, Useless Fella

Emily’s POV:

I was undoubtedly unhappy by what he said even though it was true. He claimed my mother and I ruined my dad’s company but I thought he got it very wrong. It was not done intentionally.

“Your claim holds no water,” I told him carefully. “I have proof that you are still useless but can you show me proof that I got my father’s company bankrupt? You speak trash after listening to groundless rumors!”

“Of course, you can choose to hide it,” he replied. “That is your choice and it still doesn’t change the fact that your family is very poor now. If I might take a guess, you have come to me to save your family. You have done well actually. I am still rich enough to save you.”

Dan raised his hand and dropped it on my thighs. I was embittered but I took in this in. This was the price I had to pay to achieve my aim.
