Freedom At Last

I wandered through the aisles of the bustling shopping mall, my mind a whirlwind of thoughts about Smith and the nightmare we were entangled in. I mechanically reached for items on my grocery list, my movements automatic as I tried to distract myself from the overwhelming stress of the situation. Smith’s tear-streaked face haunted my thoughts, and I couldn’t shake the image of him in that desolate prison cell.
