A Fairy's Wolf
Author: Bathruster

Chapter one

The vast city of Greiner is nestled in a lush valley, surrounded by rolling hills and dense forests. The town is filled with vibrant gardens and sparkling streams, creating a picturesque landscape that belies the tensions brewing beneath the surface.

Years passed and the fairies in Greiner were as happy as ever, no more threat, no fear. They were even especially happy as this was the season of the coronation of the new Fairy Mother (mother and leader of all fairies), it's passed through the descendant line of the Great Fairy Mother (True mother to all fairies).

"What do you mean Nuala can't be the next Fairy Mother? Why?" Aidan, looking so confused, eyes directly fixed on Peri, present fairy mother.

"Lower your voice, Aidan, someone might hear you" she whispered to her advisor.

"What are you so afraid of getting out, Peri?"

Peri took a long sigh, while crossing her hands, hesitating to respond.

"She....she". She took a deep sigh.

"Nuala, she.. she has no powers, Aidan". Tears filled her eyes as she tried to take them in.

Aidan rested his hands helplessly on the pillar in front of him.

"This isn't just about being the fairy mother, if...if" Aidan stammered.

"If the wolves were to find out we'd be damned," Peri cut in.

Both Peri and her advisor Aidan were worried and they assured themselves to just let it be a secret as they appoint her youngest daughter, Saria, as the Fairy mother.

"Mother!" A young fairy was approaching. Saria was a fine young fairy with eyes like sunlight and hair blonde. She was slim-built and considerably tall for someone her age.

"Why are you out here Saria?" She gave a dismissing sign to Aidan, and he gave a small bow and walked passed Saria, repeating the same gesture.

"Will I really be the next Fairy mother?" She announced proudly

"Is that all you're worried about Saria?"

"Oh mother, the wolves have not been seen for the past years. You have nothing to worry about, Nuala is safe."

"They may have spies, we shouldn't discuss this!" Peri turned away and surprisingly, her eldest daughter Nuala was standing there. She was quite taller than her sister, had dark hair with eyes like the moon, very beautiful indeed.

"What are you not to discuss?" Nuala asked, with her arms folded.

"Mother is worried the wolves might take you. As you have no.... You know..." Saria jumped in, walking towards Nuala "power," she then whispered.

"Saria!" Peri shouted.

"Well, as I am the rightful fairy mother, we don't know that yet. Do we?" Nuala stated mockingly knowing how badly her sister wanted to be the Fairy Mother.

Saria removed her eyes, bowed down and walked out. She couldn't stand her sister. Saria was annoyed by her sister's egoistic attitude.

"That was a good one," Peri giggled.

"I only said that to punish her." Nuala sneered. "But she's right mother, I am twenty-two years of age, still no power, Saria will have to takeover soon" Nuala narrated with her chin tucked in. She couldn't care less about being the Fairymother, anything to keep everyone safe was fine with her. That was one of her selfless traits and this wasn't a secret, more like the entire kingdom knows this.

"But there's still time, Saria haven't shown signs of the gift yet" Peri dropped her hands on Nuala's shoulder.

"Don't worry about the wolves mother. They won't find out". She cut her mother knowing what her mother was really worried about.

"We're all going to be alright mother."

she added and embraced Peri, as Peri reciprocated.
