“Yes, I know your dad, he works for me. I'll tell you all about it if you let me” Jim blurts out and the words do nothing but disgust me.

I contemplate walking away from this scene, the environment, the people. Hell, even the whole damn world cause all they ever did was hurt me and lie to me.

Jim is no different from my father, and I see it now.

“You both have done nothing but lie to me, day in, day out. When does it end?” I ask, and I don’t mind that tears are rolling freely down my face.

“Give me a chance, princess”

“To hell with you and your goddamn chances, Jim. I knew I made a big mistake falling for you. Hell yeah, I did” I say the last statement like I was trying to convince myself.

“My baby girl-

My dad interrupts and it makes my inside turn

“Dad, please leave,” I say through gritted teeth.

My dad walks out the door, but he’s smiling.

He looks nothing like the man I met in the hospital. He doesn’t seem remorseful. He seems like he has accomplished what he always wanted to do.
