17_ Bolted like a flash

After dinner with his mother ended, Derrick escorted her to her bedroom. Knowing that she was worrying about the maids and the incident that had happened earlier, he spoke to her, "Mom, you see the reason I told you earlier to send that maid away."

Lady Loretta smiled after she walked into her room and settled on her lush white bed. She told Derrick, "No, Derrick. Miranda is not at fault here and I cannot understand why you dislike her so much."

Derrick frowned after hearing his mother's statement.

"Mom, I do not dislike her, only that I feel she's up to something fishy here. I don't want any of them troubling you. As I will also be troubled with that," Derrick cleared his mother's doubt.

Seeing the sincerity in her son's eyes, that he truly cares for her, Lady Loretta agreed, "That's alright. I am sure the incident wouldn't happen again. But you shouldn't send any of them away."

"Okay, mother. I won't. Will you be needing anything else, or should I return now to my room?" Derrick inq
