I startled awake in bed and glanced at my phone to see the time.

It was close to seven.

I noticed a few text message notification on my phone and I slowly sat up.

I rubbed my eyes with the ball of my hands before I picked up the phone again and looked at it with tired eyes.

All of the texts were of course from Elizabeth.

She had promised that she would have the paintings that I'd saved sent to this house, but apparently there was a delay and she promised to send it tomorrow.

She also apologized multiple times and explained that she had no idea that our mother would throw my canvases away.

I believed her.

Seeing as it was night time, I decided to text her back tomorrow and placed my phone back on the nightstand.

I glanced beside me and saw that the bed was empty.

My eyes then moved to the window.
