MAGNUS POV

I cursed aloud as I realized that it was her abductor calling. The voice seemed familiar in a way but I was having a hard time placing it.

"Whoever you are, I'll make you regret the day you decided to cross me," I warned him.

He gave a humourless chuckle which was meant to sound deep and menacing but failed to carry off that effect. The person was trying to mask his voice.

"You're not in any position to make threats, Magnus. I'll send a location to you tomorrow. Bring the queen, your mother there. It's only fair we trade queens at this point. Come alone." He said and cut the call before I could give a response.

"Fuck!," I groaned, angry at having to meet the condition of the abductor.

At that moment, Luke walked in to report his findings. "I'm sorry, no one has seen or heard anything about her outside the gate."

"Don't worry about that, she's not anywhere around here, she's been taken," I said, pacing the room to keep myself in check.
