Chapter 48

“Hey Chase, thanks for picking me up from the airport. I enjoyed our chat in the car.”

“Me too Savannah, Me too.” And just like the first day we met Chase walked around a corner and out of my sight.

Knocking on Dad’s office door and wait to hear him call through the frosted glass door.

“Come on in sweetpea.” I open the door and step into Dad’s huge open-space office shutting the door behind me. Dad stands up from behind his desk, walks around it, and opens his arms for me. I walk up to my dad, wrapping my arms around him, and hug him.

“How was your trip?” Dad releases me from the hug and offers me a chair to sit on so we could talk.

“It was great Dad. I loved being back home I have missed it there. But I missed it here.”

“What do you mean sweetpea?”

“Yes North Carolina is home but without you there it didn’t feel like home. I saw Mom whilst I was there, and it made me think... you are all the family I have left, and I can’t be too far away from you. Something Jen and Chas
