CHAPTER 20: WORTH PROTECTING

ROSALINE’S POV:

My eyelids fluttered softly, and I noticed that I was in an entirely different room. The bed I laid on was a lot more comfortable than the one allocated to me as well; it was light and soft. It was almost like I was lying on a bunch of fluffy clouds.

Where was I? How did I end up here?

I tried to sit up but groaned a bit when a sharp sting struck my hand. I hissed as I brought up my hand to see that it was wrapped in a bandage. I looked at it in confusion. What happened to me? That was when I saw him.

Damien.

He was sitting on a chair opposite me; he had his head bowed and his limbs sprayed out in front of him. His back was a bit arched too; he did not look comfortable at all. My eyebrows furrowed with confusion. Why was he sleeping on a chair and I on this heavenly bed?

Something irritable filled my nostrils, and I could only identify it as blood. My eyes traveled downwards to see that the other side of his sheets was covered in blood. Not only that, but I had a change
