Chapter 26

"How?" She asked, her fork clattering on her plate, "I do not remember you having a girlfriend." She squinted her eyes at him. "Well, I remember you breaking up with that psycho you were dating. Don't tell me she's the one you got pregnant?" She pointed a finger at me. 

"What? No! It's not Beverly I'm talking about." 

"Then who?" 

"Her name is Maria and-" 

"Is she your girlfriend?" 

"No. At least not yet." I hesitated before adding the last part. 

"So how come she's pregnant?" My mom asked. 

Oh God. Do I need to explain how a woman gets pregnant to her.

"It is as long story mom." I exhaled in tiredness. 

"Well at least it is good since you are taking responsibility. When am I meeting her?" 

"Meeting her?" 

"Yes." She rolled her eyes and then resumed eating, "meeting her." 

"Uh, I do not think she is ready for that. We are both not ready for that.
