Chapter Three

Alpha Ace Chapter 3

Walking down the steps of her parent's packhouse, the glares or remarks to Runa made her expect this. She ignored them and stayed close to Vinnie since he was the nearest.

“Werewolves of the pack, Lilt Honors, we may now proceed to the Annual Ball.” Her father had yelled to his pack members, giving them the hoot and holler to do as they please.

Going in last, the family all admired mom and the community team for the work. “Wow, mom this is beautiful, definitely better than last year,” Vinnie said, their mother just rolling her eyes.

“Well, I had to go extra since Runa was coming home. This was last minute though.” Her mom

blushed which her husband just smiled down at her and kissed his wife’s cheek.

Their dad looked at them before sighing, “Please be safe you guys and have fun. I wish you, Molly, and Dante to find your mate.” Their father's words were final as he took his wife and they walked to where most of the alphas were.

Molly and Dante were out in second and Vinnie and Lily went to the floor to dance. She did see Alpha Killian and Milo all walk in. There were so many people that she found it a little weird if she were to find Damien in this place.

Little did she know.

A pair of grey eyes found their way onto her and she gasped. He hadn’t changed. He still had the beautiful black hair he had always had. But Runa did notice something. A pregnant Marlene. Runa felt her eyes weld up as she torn her eyes from the unfitting sight.

Runa was about to flee before she felt a shadowy hover over herself, “Hey sis, are you okay?” Vinnie said, pulling her to the side. “You don’t look like you’re enjoying yourself.” He said sincerely.

Rolling her eyes she gulped some random drank down, “What do you mean? I’m having a great time.” Vinnie smirked, he could always tell when she was being sarcastic, “Where’s Lily?”

“Oh she’s with her family, hey, don’t change the subject missy. Let’s dance.” He suggested. Vinnie was always the charmer.

Shaking her head, she denied. “Vinnie if you’re my brother then you know I can’t dance to save my life.” She joked which Vinnie laughed and pulled her hands, taking her to the dance floor, “Vinnie...”

“Sorry can’t hear you. Now dance with your twin brother.”

Pulling her to the middle, people look at them with smiles or some with glares but it was mostly towards Runa. A nice bass boasted sound played and Runa already expected what was going to happen, “Vinnie please...”

“Oh my dear sister, you already know what’s about to happen.” He smirked as he placed his on her waist and used his other hand to hold her up, “You know the dance to this don’t you. It was our favorite.”

Biting her lips she followed his footsteps and mimics them perfectly. “I’m only doing this because I love you,” Runa says something she always said when Vinnie forces her to dance.

“And I love you more. Beside you looked awkward standing in the middle like a lost little puppy.” He joked.

Scoffing she stepped on his shoe, “A hot one at that.” He laughs loudly, narrowing his knitted brows to her. She felt more stares. “Everyone’s staring, I wanna leave already.” She teased.

He smirked kissing her head, “Don’t worry about them. Fuck them, you know?” He laughed.

Laughing alongside she nodded, “Right fuck them.” She said but Vinnie had slightly stepped on her shoe which she winced. “Ow Vinnie.”

“No cursing. As your older brother, it brings shame.” He showed a fake pained face which she just laughed and rolled her eyes.

Bowing a bit she said, “Oh please forgive me.” She said sarcastically, Vinnie rolling his eyes. “How does Lily deal with your annoying side?”

“That’s easy, ignoring it,” Lily said as she laughed along with them, her father was near, dancing with his daughter.

Vinnie rolled his eyes as he stopped his dancing with Runa. “Come on babe! You know you love my annoying side.” He whined and smirked at her.

“Yeah yeah,” Lily said before turning away and dancing with her father.

Runa was sure to love Lily. “She’s a keeper,” Runa said, her arms crossed.

“Yeah, she’s perfect.” He smiled.

“I remember when you were—” she was about to tell him something before he dragged her away and covered her mouth.

“You can’t say anything from my past life. You know us werewolves have amazing hearing.” He said which Runa just laughed some more.

She leaned closer, “That was the point.”

“Oh, you’re so mean.”

“Mhm.”

Then a loud shriek is heard making the both of them freeze. It was Marlene and her big o’ belly. “Omg, is it you Runa?” She said, going in for a hug. Runa glanced to Vinnie which he just shrugged.

“The one and only Marlene, how are you?” It was if she didn’t steal her mate and got herself pregnant but Runa would just play along.

“Oh, I’ve been great and pregnant. I hope you are too, not pregnant of course. It’s truly a pain. You look stunning tonight.” She gushers, giving her a wink.

Runa smiled, a fake one but it was very determined. “You look stunning as well. Pregnancy suits you.” She blushed giving Runa a little girly push. “Your first?” She had to ask.

“Oh, I have a little boy at home.” Runa’s eye twitched a bit before she smiled to cover up her anger.

“Well, that’s so beautiful. Anyways we have to go, isn’t that right Vinnie?” She said looking to Damien who watched them. “Congratulations.” She said. Damien looked pained before he looked away and muttered a thank you.

Vinnie followed her and held her wrist, “Where are you going Runa?”

“Please Vinnie, I just need to be alone.”  Were her last words before excusing herself, her pained heart made her cry softly.

I’m sure Milo would hate his work being destroyed.
