Chapter 6

Aguilar:

“Clarice.” I said, smiling when I saw my sister walking around the estate gardens.

Jade, my first woman, was with her. Both women looked down at their feet, nodding in respect before Claire approached me.

“I am surprised to see you out here at this time of day.” I said, and she smiled. “It is noon and you might end up getting a little heat from the sun.”

“I figured that it would be the best option for the day. You know, going out, getting some fresh air. Normally, I would prefer staying inside at this time, but with Daniel arriving, I figured that I check that his things are also set up for him. He is my nephew, and it has been a long while since I have seen him.” She said, making me smile. “I figure that you could also use a little pleasure for the night.”

“You are implying that you would be taking charge of our mother’s duty?” I teased, and she laughed.

“I would never. But sometimes, your sister might be happy to intervene when it comes to her brother’s peace and ease.” She said softly. “You know, with all the work that you’ve been having, the least that you can do is loosen up. And I figure that a girl in your room would be a little change for that.”

She looked at Jade over her shoulder, and I could swear that I saw a hint of pain in the woman’s eyes. She didn’t look up at me, though. She just kept her eyes on the ground, giving me and my sister the privacy to talk as Valdez stood one step behind me.

“You can arrange for that. As long as she is of my sister’s choosing, I am sure that she is going to be the perfect woman.” I said, and she smiled. I looked at Jade for a moment before nodding at Clarice. “Don’t stay out for long. Jade, come with me.”

She looked at me, and her eyes widened in surprise, and I nodded at her to follow me. It has been a while since I’ve seen her, and after losing our child, she had chosen to come here with Clarice and mother a long time ago. I didn’t stop her either.

The two of us walked for a while. I was quiet, not saying a word, and she didn’t look at me as she kept her eyes on the flowers and roses.

“I have yet to see you since I got back.” I said, choosing to finally speak.

“It has been a long time since the two of us have seen one another. I can assume that you had a lot of important things to take care of. I doubt that I am going to be one of the priorities that you have amongst them.” She said, and I shook my head at her.

“The two of us know that you are one of the priorities that I have, Jade.” I said, and she smiled. “How have you been? Your health? I heard from mother that you chose to complete your studies. Have things gone well for you?”

“Yes, they have. The mother Luna has been kind to me with allowing it. I chose from different majors. She helped me with my choice too. It was not a favorable choice for her, though. But she has been supporting me with it and has even brought the best tutors to the harem to help me with them.” She said, and I smiled.

“What do you intend to do with the degree once you’ve gotten it?” I asked, and she shook her head.

“Nothing, really. It is just a lot more satisfying for me to know that I am doing something that is different. You know, rather than roaming around doing nothing, architecture has always been one of my dreams, and it is something that I like admiring, might as well take advantage of it.” She said, and I nodded.

“Well, when you are done with your degree, I want to see your work. If you would be interested, I am going to be more than willing to give you an offer for an opportunity. You know, something to make use of your studies and to us as a pack.” I said, and she raised an eyebrow.

“You are being serious?” I asked, and she smiled.

“I aim for prosperity. And I doubt that you would be failing the expectations that I have in you. I have a lot of faith in what you will be able to achieve and I aim to help you with fulfilling a dream that you have.” I said, and her eyes brightened as she looked at me.

“Thank you, Alpha.” She said, and I took her hand in mine, squeezing it gently. She pulled my hand to her lips, and I watched as she kissed my knuckle. Her amber eyes met mine, and I ran my finger over her palm gently before the two of us turned to walk back toward the house.

“You don’t need to thank me. You deserve the best, and I don’t want you to think of feel like you are going to be wandering around with nothing to do. If you have a talent, then I would be more than willing to help you grow and even make use of it. That is something that you can count on.” I said, softly. She smiled as we got to Clarice who was plucking a few roses.

“Clarice, Jade, go inside. It is going to be a hot day, and I do not want you getting ill. Specifically you, Clarice as you are often very sensitive when it comes to heat,” I said, and she nodded, smiling at me.

“Don’t worry, Alpha. I was only bringing roses for mother. I will be going inside shortly.” She said, and I nodded as she smiled at me. “I’ll be making arrangements for you little evening once I’m inside.”
