I had never transformed so fast, never ran so fast. My hind legs were burning and aching when I came to a halt at the edge of the forest. I somehow transformed back into my human form. The moment I did, the wooden door opened with a creak and a harried-looking Marcus emerged.

Going out of the packhouse felt strange. It felt oddly like getting a chance to taste the outside world after a long time. I felt like it has been decades since I’ve seen the outside world instead of a few weeks.
