[Trigger warning: Suicidal thoughts, self-hatred]
I had never transformed so fast, never ran so fast. My hind legs were burning and aching when I came to a halt at the edge of the forest. I somehow transformed back into my human form. The moment I did, the wooden door opened with a creak and a harried-looking Marcus emerged.
“I told you not to go to the Southern part of the forest, didn’t I?” He looked mad, but that didn’t make me flinch, not even a bit.
I stood up, brushed my pants as much as I could salvage before raising my head. I ignored the furious burning at the corner of my eyes. “Why? So that you could hide you alpha having an affair, or should I say keeping a side chick and fucking h
Haughty much? -_-
Even though Isaac said that Clarissa had changed my clothes last night, I still wanted to confirm whether that was true. “Did you change my clothes last night?” The maid’s hands stilled, hairbrush on top of my head, the bristles yet to touch the hair strands. I looked at her reflection. Her eyes were downcast, red splotched her cheeks. She glanced up before lowering her gaze and nodding. “You were… unconscious. Then…alpha called for me and I…” She didn’t need to mention the rest. I could imagine what it must have looked like and how intimidated she must have been. I don't even know how I asked him to kill me. Maybe I was desperate to die. I still am not opposed to the very idea of death.I shoved these thoughts at the back of my mind. Now was not the time to show how pathetic of a Luna I was. I hummed noncommittal, pretending to be unbothered whereas inside I was slightly relieved. I would
To say she was beautiful would be an understatement. I had only gotten a glimpse of her that day before I had turned heel and ran. But up close, I begrudgingly had to accept the fact Isaac must have been enamoured.“If i hadn’t met you today, I wouldn’t know how flattering it would feel to be gawked at by an alpha’s mate.” The voice was soft, almost melodious but one couldn’t miss the taunt and smugness in the tone. She tucked a black lock behind her ear, the fading bluish highlight still visible before crossing her hands. I clenched my jaw as I noticed that she did that on purpose. On her ring finger shone a diamond ring, adorning her manicured pink-nailed fingers.I felt my skin crawl at the satisfied smirk on her lips. I levelled her with a glare before moving past her when she said,
Horror gripped my veins as I stared at Isaac, whose gaze was razor-sharp. He looked every bit the beast that the tales claimed him to be. “You…you wouldn’t.” My voice shook and I hated the fact that it showed my fear. Isaac stalked towards me until he was close, too close for my liking. His wolf form was….intimidating. His black fur gleamed under the fluorescent lights and in the middle of modernity, he looked unreal. I had to tilt my head to look up at him. “That is exactly what I intend to do. I don’t give empty threats,” he rasped. I averted my gaze. I didn’t want him to see the telltale sign of tears. “Think carefully, Kathryn. Once you leave, you can’t survive much longer as a ro
Going out of the packhouse felt strange. It felt oddly like getting a chance to taste the outside world after a long time. I felt like it has been decades since I’ve seen the outside world instead of a few weeks. The car glided smoothly, manoeuvred around the curves, I trained my gaze outside the window, drinking in the sight— the trees, the smell of mud. The morning sun was shining mildly, its heat felt like a warm blanket. I swallowed the sudden formed thick lump in my throat and ignored the burn in my eyes. I glanced beside me where Marcus sat, keeping an appropriate distance between us, his chin dipped downward, frown evident as he types furiously on the laptop. I fidgeted with the edge of the file that I was carrying but didn’t feel like opening it and going through the contents. I had finished reading and was prepared…somewhat.
I stiffened while Alpha Caius’ smirk remained intact in its place. I heard someone come up and stand beside me. From my peripheral vision, I saw Marcus. “I apologize, Alpha but we are not allowed to leave our Luna alone. That too, with an inmate wolf.” It was hard jibe, one meant to be a polite way of saying ‘fuck off', and I almost winced thinking of what alpha Caius may think. Before he could take it in any other way, I said, “What he meant to say is, my mate alpha Isaac is slightly over-possessive, and like any other newly mated pair, it was tough for him to part ways so it would not be a good thing if you decided to speak to me alone. Marcus and James are our loyal men, so feel free to ask anything about Isaac. As for how your friend is, he is well. He couldn’t attend this meeting because of some of his personal problems, which I am afraid I can’t divulge even thoug
My pride at being able to find a solution and be a responsible luna, if not for real, but in pretence and being able to gain everyone’s praise was short-lived. Marcus and James were conversing as we got out of the car. They sounded nervous and spoke so softly that it was difficult for me to decipher. I decided to ignore it. Since it was already evening and I was dying to go back to bed and have some food in my stomach. The nerve-wracking day had taken away my appetite and now that the meeting was over, I felt famished. I turned around to bid farewell to the two men who acknowledged me with a curt nod. Marcus’ eyes looked concerned, but I was oblivious to the unwanted surprise that was awaiting me. I walked towards the room, taking longer strides than necessary. The resident was silent and eerie as usual, but in these weeks the eeriness and its constant silence had grown
[Warning: Dubious consent] The moment I woke up, I felt every part of my body being consumed by fire and pain. I moaned in pain and curled up further to relieve myself from the immense pain. Why did I feel like this? The pain shouldn’t have been so bad. I never felt like this before. The sun was not high enough up in the sky for Clarissa or Venessa to come to my room. I wished they would. I could call for them through the bell they had provided but it was proving to be a Herculean task to even move my finger. I screwed my eyes shut and breathed through my mouth, the contraction of my core muscles made me choke. I don’t know for how long I had been like that but maybe I had drifted off because when I peeled my eyes open, Clarissa was hovering nervously on my bedside. “Clari…ssa…” God,
When I woke up, it was midday. It didn’t feel like my whole body was being consumed by fire nor was there any mind-numbing pain. I was experiencing a strange calmness. At the back of my mind, I knew this was temporary bliss before another wave would wash over my body and once again, I’d have to seek the Alpha. The thought left an unpleasant bitterness in my mouth. “How do you feel, Luna?” Georgia’s voice cut through my thoughts. I blinked slowly before turning to the source and realized other than her, Clarissa and Vanessa were also present. They hovered at the foot of the bed while Georgia was given a chair beside the bed to sit. “I…” My voice came out raspy. Clarissa scrambled to hand me a glass of water. “Thank you.” I sat up partially, leaning against the headboard, and took a small sip. I avoided Georgia’s concer
