Chapter 79: Feeling flustered

Mara seemed to drift into a trance as she stared at me. It was clear she wanted to know why I was laughing.

“Aren't you angry?” she asked, sounding surprised.

I glanced at her, struggling to contain my laughter, and slowly nodded. “No, I’m not angry.”

I could tell from her expression that she wasn't convinced of my response.

So before she could respond, I added, “After all, I also supported us touring outside the castle. It’s not your fault or mine that we encountered them.” I reassured her.

Upon hearing my reassurance, Mara let out a long, relieved breath.

As we turned our attention back to the others, we heard Zeeb’s next words in response to Alpha Brutus’s question. A spark of joy blossomed within me at what he said.

“She’s no stranger,” he declared.

Silence filled the room instantly, and everyone’s expressions tensed. Despite the quiet, I could sense the underlying tension.
