Chapter Eighty - Four

AMELIA'S POV

I don't know for how long I sat by Xavier's grave. However, when I came to, it was well into the evening, and the sun was long on her journey to set. I turned around and saw my Mum standing behind me.

I was stunned. Had she been standing all the while? I flew to my feet and towards her. "Mum!" I exclaimed, unable to conceal my shock.

She smiled weakly at me, and I had to catch her from falling. All the standing had made her weak. "Oh mum!" That was all I could say. I held her in my hands and helped her as we began to walk back to the house. There was no one to call for help or support at that moment; the entire grave side was deserted.

"Why did you stay back, Mum? You could have gone like the others and thought you were standing too!"

She shook her head. "No," Her words were a whisper, yet I could still hear them clearly. "I had to stay back and watch over you. It's my duty."

"But now you've worn yourself out waiting!"
