ALEXIS POV

A few days after I begun to stay with the Rhodes, Grace prepared a most elaborate dinner because John’s company had won an exclusive contract and it was such a huge deal for his career. She’d outdone herself and prepared dinner like it was a bouquet and we were at least twenty people as opposed to the three adults and one child that we were.

I didn’t wait for the invitation twice, I dug into the food. Grace said, “So tell us John, how did it feel when you got the call stating you got the contract?”

“Honestly, I did not know what to feel. At all, I didn’t really know what to feel. I think I was too happy I didn’t even know how to express it.”

“What about your employees Dad? How did they take the news?” Jaime asked. If it wasn’t too late, she was often allowed to spend dinner with us, adults and then other times, she was sent to bed on time.
