Chapter Nine_The masks slips

If I was being honest, I was about to play a dangerous game.

One that could possibly get me punished. Or worse, get kicked out of the estate with not even my dignity.

"Is he okay?," I heard Ari ask someone. Ryan? Possibly one of the numerous men that guarded the estate and kept to themselves.

"I saw a trail of blood when he dragged himself into his room."

"What the fuck happened?" This wasn't a voice I recognised. The person's voice sounded a bit faded, like he kept a respectable distance away from Ari.

Ryan's voice was next. "He refused to tell me, tell anyone what he does when he disappears for days. I had to give him fluid. He was both in shock and drugged out of his mind."

I leaned in closer, my ears almost touching the cold wall. The voices had been muffled, but I was able to make out the tone of urgency from Ari's voice, while Ryan's was mixed with confusion and frustration.
