"We can’t have it done that way," one of the council elders objected. We were discussing how to increase the pack's production, and some were suggesting raising the tax.

Another elder stood up, "Tax has already been increased twice this year. We can’t increase it again. It will be too harsh on the pack members," he argued.

I heaved a sigh. This issue was becoming complicated. How do I solve this? The produce that each family was getting was small, and they were complaining that it wasn't enough to feed their families.

It was the same way the produce in the family was being rationed too. The kitchen head of maids had come to see me personally on that same issue, giving me a warning ahead that there would be a point where there would be no food left to buy in the market.
