“There is still space I can sleep in. The bed is wide enough and I’ll sleep beside Jasper, not beside you,” I replied calmly.

She sat up with Jasper’s head still resting on her chest. “That’s exactly the problem. I don’t want you to sleep with my son or me, don’t you get it? The couch is wide enough for you to sleep in too. If you feel it’s not convenient, you can use the floor,” she said in a harsh tone.

I sighed and was about to leave, to sleep somewhere else. “Can you guys stop shouting? You keep waking me from my peaceful sleep,” Jasper murmured to us.

“I’m sorry, baby boy —“ Aurora began to rub his hair and back to help him fall asleep again.

Jasper sat up sleepily, looking between us. “Why are you arguing? The bed is wide enough and besides, I will feel very safe sleeping beside my parents. Right, mummy?” He said.

Aurora eyed me. “Fine, baby. Go back to sleep now,” she muttered.
